Benq Computer Monitors For Photo Editing

2024-09-18 01:51:29

After searching for and testing several monitors (Dell, LG) for photo editing, I finally landed on the BenQ PD2725U, and I'm glad that I did. It's a beautiful monitor in every way, especially for my primary purpose: photo editing. The image quality is absolutely gorgeous, and the colors appear to be as rich and true as I could ever hope. The hockey puck takes a little getting used to, but after awhile it seems easy and seamless to make adjustments, or change the color settings. The only difficulty I had was with the monitor's initial setup - BenQ shipped DisplayPort, HDMI, Thunderbolt, and USB Type A to Type B cables, but not the one I needed (USB-C) to connect my recent vintage laptop. After futzing around with the Thunderbolt cable, I finally realized that it just wasn't going to work, and went out and bought a new cable. For a $845 monitor, I was a little disappointed that it didn't include one of the most commonly used cables. Otherwise, I'm extremely pleased with the monitor.

This is my 2nd BenQ Photo Editing monitor and as with the first, this is an excellent monitor. From packaging to performance to customer service, I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.

I use a Mac Studio for all my photo work. I had a pair of really nice NEC photo monitors, but they were 10+ years old and showing their age. I wanted to upgrade from a 26 to 32 inch monitor and after a ton of research went with the BenQ SW321c. OMG, what a difference! I purchased mine with the calibration device, as my original one was also about 10 years old. I could not believe how easy calibration was and the final results. I also could not believe how easy it was to edit and print my photos. The monitor comes with a puck, so the calibration can be instantly changed based on the intended use of the image (screen, print, B&W, etc); incredible. So after about a year and a half struggling with an NEC on one side and the BenQ on the other, I pulled the trigger and purchased a second. Before I made the purchase I contacted BenQ to see if I could buy just the panel and not all the other stuff that comes with it (light blocker, stand, cables etc), but they don't offer it that way. I might suggest B&H consider getting a bespoke consignment of monitor-only BenQ panels for folks like me that will be mounting the monitor on swing arms and don't need all the other stuff. I bet the customer-base for this monitor is similar to me, in that many have multiple monitors and are semi-professional or professionals. I hate dumping all that stuff in a landfill, so hopefully these comments will prompt B&H to put together a multi-monitor package for people like me.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a hobbyist photographer/videographer (I sell products but it's not my full time job) and this monitor has been excellent so far for editing. For the past several years my setup has been three 27" QHD (2K) monitors, but I recently got into drone photography and decided to replace one of the monitors with something bigger to help with editing the larger landscape photos (it has helped). I also recently built a new computer and wanted to get a 4K monitor to take advantage of the upgraded video card (that was more of a "want" than a "need" but it was definitely worth it). As for gaming, I'm way too old to be hardcore lol. For the games I do play - WOW, (non-hardcore) MOBA, strategy/simulations, etc - this monitor is a huge upgrade from a 27" QHD and delivers excellent performance. The monitor arrived well packaged with no dead pixels or any other problems. The stand isn't anything fancy but it serves its purpose - height & angle adjustability more than meet my needs (I'll probably eventually get an arm and mount it like my other 2 monitors to free up some desk space). There were some cables in the box but my desk is a little distance from my computer so I ordered a longer cable (Cable Matters DP 1.4, 16 feet) for 20 bucks and it works fine. The monitor's color gamut and brightness are great for my needs and it calibrated easily using my Spyder. I haven't used the speakers. If you need more than a billion colors, built-in hardware color calibration or an insane refresh rate, this monitor isn't for you - you'll either need to get a smaller monitor pay a lot more. But for general use, this is great monitor for the price! I've had it for 2 weeks and am very happy with the purchase.

I use tis for a full video editing system (computer, monitors, speakers, etc) and it works great. Plenty of outlets and streamlined designed for space efficiency.

I use this to take the audio from my editing computer and split to my desktop monitors and headphones. It works perfectly and has a tiny footprint on my desk - exactly what I needed. Also great to pack up and take into the field for small audio jobs.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After many product research for monitors for photo editing, I chose viewfinity and no regret at all Although this is 32 inches large monitor, still clear and gives vivid color enhancement. I will never go back to FHD, Samsung monitors will be my choice for future purchases.

I recently replaced two aging 19-inch monitors, which were getting difficult to match with the Samsung 34-inch monitor, which provides a lot of breathing room with much to spare. I do a lot of photo and graphics editing for print, and visual quality and resolution are especially important. Color balance is spot on out of the box, and though the monitor is factory set way too bright for photo editing, it was easy enough to back off the brightness and contrast to get it to the point where it matches photos on my 13x19-inch pro-printers. The 100 Hz refresh rate means no flickering (even noticeable at 75 Hz on the old monitors), and the finer resolution makes photo editing easy.

This is a great monitor for photo editing and a bargain compared to comparable monitors. The colors are great, it's a perfect size, and it's well designed. The joy stick to move around the monitor menus is particularly clever. I only have 2 minor complaints. First, the quick setup guide that comes with the monitor is absolutely worthless. Download the manual from the ASUS website before you unpack the box. Second, while the i1 Display Pro profiler is excellent it has only generic instructions on its use. With ASUS written all over the box I expected a detailed description on how to use it with this ASUS monitor. However, if you've ever used a similar device it's not hard to figure out. Overall I couldn't be happier with the purchase.

I don't work with video content or photo editing but I was tired of dealing with multiple monitor setups that weren't even close to being color matched. The SpyderX fixes it as best as it can, depending on your monitor's color capabilities. It's going to make cheap monitors look mediocre at best, and top-of-the-line monitors look excellent. Your end video/photo projects and your eyesight will thank you for your calibration. Most people don't realize how too bright their monitors really are. Each monitor's calibration took under 5 minutes on my Win10 desktop. Well worth it's price, even better when it's on sale.
