Berry Miller Junior High School Supply

Purchased this for my high school Junior daughter who has found a home behind a camera. She dove in head first and continues to develop skills - that means adding equipment - both digital and manual - and a variety of lenses. What does every kid need and use? A sturdy backpack - this is the item and boy is it useful and durable. Mission accomplished with this purchase!

High School Sports

I've owned Miller, Vinton, Cartoni and Sachtler tripods, I still have a Sachtler 18 and a Sachtler 20.. But this is light, easy to use, higher reach (almost as high as a hotpot) and it looks great. This Manfrotto is my go-to for 99% of my shoots as it doesn't twist, grab, drag or hamper your job. Plus it comes with a spreader that can be a floor or mid-level so not an additional item to nickel & dime you. Plus the legs have the ability to spread low almost like having a high hat.

This isn't a Sachtler, high end Miller or Benro, but it's a pretty good tripod. While it's not sturdy enough to be loaded up with a large-format pro camera and all the accessories, we find this camera to be sufficient for run and gun shooting. The pan/tilt head is okay; but it's not the same as using a full fluid head. We're using it for static shots, so it works out fine for us. One curiosity is the crank lift. I don't understand why manufactures feel compelled to put this in.
