Excelent pice of gear. I use it on an EVF and on a Blackmagic Video Assist. The shoe adapter works as a quick release.

This is the first on-camera monitor I have owned, but I did research this product space extensively, and I have use monitors belonging to other people. I am extremely happy with this monitor. I specifically wanted something with full cross conversion between HDMI and SDI, and this has it. It has 20+ tools like focus assist, exposure assist, histogram, and waveform, and they are all fully configurable. I have been able to load a custom LUT. The color accuracy seems good, as does the brightness. The unit is a little heavier than other monitors, especially with two batteries on the back; the housing is evidently a machined aluminum heat sink. I haven't had a chance to use it with SDI yet. Note that the stand-alone unit comes with no power source, neither a battery nor an AC adapter; they are sold separately. For some reason, B&H recommends an AC to dummy L-Series adapter to power it from AC. However, the monitor has a DC input port, and SmallHD makes a power supply for it, B&H #SMPWRADPUS12, which I have tested and it works. My at-home battery life test gave me just over 11 hours of running time from two 4400 mAh batteries. The unit gracefully switches between power sources with no problem.

The E-2 has some interesting features that are missing currently in the BMPCC 4K.  I have both cameras, both purchased from B & H. Only having the E-2 for a couple of week, the things which immediately stand out are (1) On-screen, movable focus assist point. (2) The E2s ability to do a complete pull-focus between two prior designated points using the cameras smart phone application. (3) Responsiveness of data transmission via cameras WiFi to either iPhone or iPad - makes using the iPad Mini a 7.9 field monitor an option. (4) E2s focusing assist very responsive and maybe accessed either by the smart phone application or via the cameras LANC connection. (Surprising Black Magics Ursa Mini LANC handgrip can provide not only focus assist activation but also can be used to Start/Stop recording.) (See attached photos)  The only disappointment so far involves use of the MetaBones SpeedBooster Ultra 0.71x EF to MFT adapter -which is not a problem with the E2 but with Metabones compatibility issues.  While the latest firmware update of the Metabones adapter (V 3.10) fixed the focus assist problems with the BMPCC 4K,  this same adapter is non-functional when on the E2. Focus assist doesnt pass through from camera to EF lens.  In the Metabones Smart Adapter EF to MFT focus assist does pass through.  Both adapters are using the Metabones firmware version 3.10.   Overall initial impression:  EXCELLENT - perhaps exceeding my initial impressions of the BMPCC 4K
