Best Acoustic Headphone Amp

The Mackie HM-4 is a wonderful headphone amp, perfect for tracking with multiple musicians. I bought one for a session I did with an acoustic guitarist where we were recording live vocals, acoustic guitar, and drum machine. The HM-4 worked perfectly, allowing us each to have our own individual headphone volume. I did not notice any coloration to the material we were monitoring and I hope to have my HM-4 for a very long time maybe forever. 5 |

I vacillated over which mic I should buy to pair up with my acoustic guitar and my Fender Acoustic Junior amp. This turned out to be ideal. 5 |

A rare find. Not too long; good use for a headphone amp. 5 |

Mic, Pre-Amp, and Headphone Amp in an all-in-one package! Nice to be able to use a USB mic without the need for a separate pre-amp. Really like the headphone jack incorporated into the unit with separate gain controls for the headphone volume. 5 |

I use to as a headphone interface to a guitar tube amp DI out. It works great for that. 5 |

This is an amazing system and is spot on for all my needs. I use this as my PA and acoustic guitar amp and it's so portable, you can pick the sub up with one finger! Also, great for the patio to stream music and you don't even have to plug in the power cord since it's battery powered as well. This is a home run! 5 |

For a little background, I have owned a K10, a KW122, and a KSub. Our GB band owns many QSC speakers, as well, including the K8, K10, K12, KW152, and KW181. I am a guitarist and bassist and sometimes run a pre-amp into the K-series speakers directly for lower volume situations. The original K8 has always been my favorite for acoustic guitar and I have used one many times to perform outdoor wedding ceremonies. The wide dispersion pattern and detailed midrange sits nicely with acoustic instruments. The K8.2, to me, almost sounds like the original K10 in regards to depth of sound while retaining the wider dispersion of the 8" driver. It puts out a lot of quality sound in a small form factor. I'm sure many of us are happy that the K8.2 also has the ability to be used as a floor monitor, too, which is another application I will be using mine for. The new onboard DSP, while not as quick to navigate as the analog dip switches of the original K-series, adds lots of functionality. Most notable for instrumentalists is the addition of the high impedance input setting on channel B. Combined with the onboard EQ and three different high pass filter settings, you can skip using a pre-amp and plug straight in, if a simplified setup is needed. I plan on using it this way for playing lower volume cocktail hour duo scenarios. Also, thank you B&H for offering this speaker with the carrying bag included. It made it easy to decide where to purchase it! 5 |

This small amp packs more tone and clarity than you would think possible. Bob Sima uses these with acoustic guitars and headset mics and they sound great. I used mine today for a small acoustic gig. GREAT for small rooms where you just need a little boost because playing unamplified just doesn't quite cut it. The ONLY thing I wish they had done differently would have been to have a mid control on the vocal channel. Instrument channel has low, mid, and high. Vocal channel just has low and high. I agree with some other reviews that I've seen that the LoudBox Mini sounds better than some of the larger models. They got something right with this one. 5 |
