Best Ambient Sound Headphones

Best headphones I’ve ever had. Love that I can hear the ambient noise as well. Much safer.

These AfterShokz OpenMove Wireless Bone Conduction Open-Ear Bluetooth Headphones are well made and the sound quality is very good. They let you hear music and phone calls without blocking ambient sounds. Headphones with noise cancellation are fine if you want to block out ambient noise. But noise cancellation or even sound deadening aren’t desirable when driving a car, jogging or just being out for a walk when you need to hear traffic, horns honk and the like. Even in an office environment, you can listen to music or do a virtual meeting and still hear your boss yell at you. LOL. Seriously, these are perfect when you want to listen to music or an audio book but need to be alert to your surroundings.

I tried the Bose QC-35 wireless headphones and they were very nice, but they could not stand up to the excellent noise cancelling ability of the Sony’s! It will transform your traveling experience from noisy and stressful to quiet and blissful. These are expensive, but it’s because of the superior quality and technology in them. The touch controls work great, even though I have accidentally tapped them when taking off the headphones. The instant quiet/ambient sound mode is extremely helpful. By just placing your hand over the ear of the headphone you can silence the music and it also amplified the ambient sound around you for easy conversation with those around you. The battery life is incredible and with just a few minutes of charge you can get 5-8 hours of playtime! The ear cups are very ergonomic and comfortable even for very long usage (4 hours). Great construction and fold up into a small case.

By far the best headphones I have had for a while. The autoswitching between full noise cancelling and ambient sound as you move/transit is very clever. Sound is superb, but the real ace is the noise cancelling.

I like the sound quality but they don't block ambient noises. If a TV is on, I can hear it. These go over the ears and are comfortable. If I look at the floor, they don't fall off or shift at all. The cable is removable which is handy for storage. Also I mostly use the short cable. I put an iPod in my shirt pocket and use the short cable while I putter around the house or go outside. Forget Blu-Tooth headphones and batteries. These headphones are simple and light and don't digify the sound. They seem well made. I'm happy with my purchase.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] As someone who has never had a “high-end” pair of headphones these are absolutely incredible. The sound is perfect – deep, rich and with great range. They also offer 360 Reality Audio (with accompanying subscription or trial to compatible streaming service), which is mind blowing. It’s a totally immersive surround sound experience for your headphones. The noise-cancellation feature works well – low level background noise (air conditioner, keyboard clicks, etc) are totally removed while louder noise are substantially muted. Comfort while wearing is good but my ears do feel a bit squeezed after wearing for more a couple hours – hoping that goes away with more frequent usage. The Bluetooth connection is easy to setup, stable and allows up to 2 devices to connect to the headphones at the same time. Most settings are managed through the app - I'd prefer to skip another app install but it’s light and well organized. There are also some interesting software features that I wasn’t expecting like ambient noise control, which changes the level of ambient sound that’s blocked based on location or activity (think, more cancellation in a seated environment vs more ambient noise for awareness while walking on the street). Speak-to-chat is another handy feature that turns off the noise cancelling when you start to talk. The touchpad on the ear is also a convenient way to control volume, tracks, play/pause and answer calls. Overall, I’m very impressed with these headphones and would highly recommend.

I was between this ones and the Bose since i needed noise cancelling headphones. My first experience was that the design was just perfect fit for me and it was easy to install and connect to my iphone. The noise cancelling in airplanes works perfectly and the ambient sound is perfect to keep listening to any song and hearing any incoming sound. the manual controls to increase or reduce volume, switching songs and ambient sound is really easy and with one hand. I really recommend this product since the price is one of the lowest for a high quality headphones. Also the audio quality exceeds my expectations. And the battery allows you to use for non-stop for many hours, at least 13 non-stop. Amazing right?
