Best Audio Mixing Headphones

2024-09-21 07:10:27

I have had these headphones for almost 10 years. In these 10 years, they have been THE BEST headphones I have used for mixing. I have used a bunch of headphones and studio monitors in that time, and nothing has beat them out, not even the infamous Sony 7506 (given, cheaper, but more prevalent headphones in studios) Things to note with these headphones; they are not super low end present. If you are getting these to listen to consumer music, you may not like them because they are not "boomy" or "full". These headphones are for users who are looking for definition and clarity for making a solid mix. The other note is a MINOR complaint; the part of the headset that rests on the top of your head/hair has worn out for me. The muffs also wore out, but I replaced them. If there is a way to replace the foam under the band, please let me know because I would love to have them looking brand new again. I broke the cable that came with the headphones by accidentally vacuuming it about 2 years in (stupid, I know), but the detachable cable saved me some money. Also nice if you want to swap out different size cables. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking to invest in headphones for studio mixing.

I use this model for monitoring and mixing in my studio. These headphones are the best I have ever used and goes right along in the same category as the SM57 microphones. Best sound and amazing price for the performance!

I use the K271 headphones for mixing my audio projects. The sound is great! They are pretty comfortable, though I have to take them off periodically to give my ears a break. Over long periods of time they start to be of slight discomfort, but that can be said about any headphones. The sound quality is great. The low end may be a little lean, as others have stated. But the response is pretty flat and the sound is awesome. One plus is that the headphones turn off as soon as you remove them from your head. The way the headband is designed allows a switch to be activated when putting them on, which allows the audio to pass through. Pretty cool feature. I'm digging these headphones.

These are fantastic headphones once you get them broken in. I use them daily for audio editing and some mixing. They are extremely comfortable and have very clean, clear sound that allows me to pickup on edits or problem frequencies better than when I monitor through my mains, though they won't beat a good room and good monitors for mixing. I will say that they are very large. Much larger than the Sennheiser HD600. One reason I got these headphones is that they are much easier to drive from normal pro equipment when compared the HD600 and HD650. I no longer need to carry a headphone amp with me just to do some basic editing. Most audio interfaces seem to do a good job driving the K701s.

This little unit is incredible, I use it for simple things like Discord and Game Streaming. TotalMix FX makes mixing on the fly incredibly simple, no need for a giant mixing board on your desk, TotalMix takes care of it all. Monitoring my inputs in real time is simple, even with my RME ADI-2 DAC connected via ADAT, there's zero latency. Listening to Music through your headphones without passing that audio through to your stream is so simple with TotalMix. Just send game audio and your microphone to one hardware output with loopback on, then send all of those sources plus your music app to your headphones. It's too simple. The only issue I have with this device is it's lack of compressor and gate. I would much rather have those than the built in reverb and echo options. RME has stated that the babyface's DSP chip is not capable of more than a couple effects due to the number of available channels, but it would be nice if owners could pick and choose which effects were available based on their application. I decided to purchase a $200 DBX 286s channel strip to take care of this, instead of upgrading to a fireface which would be an additional $700. All in all, this unit does exactly what I need which is to allow me to use the windows devices instead of ASIO as most of my gaming applications do not have an ASIO option. Programs like ASIO4all and Voicemeeter Banana are great when you have a Focusrite like I did, but the Babyface Pro FS and TotalMix FX cannot be beat. I highly recommend this device and wish I had purchased one years ago.

I prefer my Audio-technica for mixing but I have a couple other sets of headphones and speakers to reference between. These sound fantastic at a great price.

These are the best pair of headphones out there for an accurate referance. I do a lot of live audio mixing and also work in the studio. I consider the Sony MDR-7506 a vital part of my audio tool rig!
