Best I've used/seen for gooseneck mics. Holds it steady and has 20 db noise reduction to prevent sounds of bibles/books hitting the lecturn/podium from being amplified. 5 |

I purchased these about a month ago. This is my first foray into wireless noise canceling headphones in about five years, I am impressed with the improvements. The sound quality is simply terrific, approximately as good as a set of wired headphones of similar cost. The wireless link is reliable, no interference or dropouts noted though in fairness I usually use these with my phone which is never more than a few feet away. I purchased these in part to replace a set of headphones that I use when I cut my grass. That is a very challenging environment for noise reduction as it contains wide band noise from very low frequencies up to almost the limit of human hearing. The noise is also at a fairly high decibel decibel level, something like 90+dba at 1 m. The headphones knocks the mower noise down to a really surprising level, and even with the noise reduction working that hard the audio still sounds great. I also very much appreciate the touch features of these headphones. My experience with non-phone/computer gesture sensing has not been good. However these sense tap and swipe gestures very reliably. The headphones come in a small zippered case and include accessories such as an airplane adapter and hardwired cable. They charge in three hours or less, usually much less, from USB-C. Sony also has an app available for iOS and android that provides various settings for noise reduction, equalizer, and setting the function of a dedicated button on the headphones. I can't speak to the iOS version but the android version works well, I've had absolutely no issues with it. Overall I think these are a great choice, and well worth the price. 5 |

This headset was purchased to replace an entry level Logitech set from about 10-12 years ago. I wanted a comfortable headset for video conferencing that supported usb-c, since both my Pixelbook Go and MacBook Air only have usb-c ports. The fact that this headset can also easily convert into a standard stereo jack was also very appealing. I'm not ready for a wireless headset since I dislike charging too many devices and the mics on Bluetooth wireless headsets usually rate poorly (nearly always, the complaint is that they are underpowered and too quiet). I've used this headset now for numerous many hour long calls. It is lightweight and comfortable, my ears do not get hot, and it does an amazingly good job at blocking out background noise without any active noise canceling technology. The ear pad material was softer than I was expecting and it appears to sink around my ears for a close fit. Sound quality has been very good, and when I asked the people on the other side of my calls how I sounded, they all confirmed that I was clear and easily understood. The cord is very long, and the usb-c connector makes a tight fit. Setup was the same as any other usb headset. 5 |

For years I had been using the older Sennheiser RS 120 wireless headset which operated in the 926-928 MHz frequency range. The performance was adequate, but the unit suffered from multipath cancellation (signal reduction due to the out of phase combination of multiple reflections). You will notice this when you move your head slightly, and there would be a sudden, and audible, change in signal amplitude or a short burst of background noise. As I had need for an addition system, I decided on the RS 175 as it seemed to have good reviews. I have not been disappointed. The RS 175 operates in the 2.4 GHz band with digital modulation. While 2.4 GHz systems are also subject to multipath propagation deterioration, I noticed none with this system, even with the headset taken outside onto the patio with the transmitter 40+ feet away. As typical with digital modulation systems, there was a threshold effect -- if the headset got out of range, the signal would abruptly disappear, quieting the audio -- in the past, you would simply be greeted with noise. In addition, I very much like the Bass Boost and Surround Sound options which can be quickly selected at the press of a button on the headset. The one negative for the headset is that you need to really take the headset off in order to figure out which button to press. I find this a rather minor inconvenience as I am not changing audio level, bass boost or surround sound options on the fly. In summary, Sennheiser did a superb job with this unit. The audio quality is excellent (I used an analog input -- an optical interface also exists for even better quality) and the annoying multipath effects so common with many wireless headsets are non-existent. 5 |
