Best Bookshelf Passive Studio Monitors Under 200

The Avantone CLA-200 Studio Reference Amplifier is easily the best purchase I made all year. I own a pair of Yamaha NS 10M Studio Monitors and for years I just used random amplifiers to power them. I decided this year to invest in a better quality amplifier to improve the overall sound quality of my Monitors. After weeks of research And reading countless reviews I decided to go with the CLA-200. I must say the shipping was immediate and I received the new amplifier the very next day after ordering. I can't stress how impressed I was with the sound quality the CLA-200 brought to my NS-10's. The clarity and the frequency response was just amazing. I highly recommend the CLA-200 for any and all Yamaha NS10 users. You won't be disappointed! 5 |

I have had these headphones for almost 10 years. In these 10 years, they have been THE BEST headphones I have used for mixing. I have used a bunch of headphones and studio monitors in that time, and nothing has beat them out, not even the infamous Sony 7506 (given, cheaper, but more prevalent headphones in studios) Things to note with these headphones; they are not super low end present. If you are getting these to listen to consumer music, you may not like them because they are not "boomy" or "full". These headphones are for users who are looking for definition and clarity for making a solid mix. The other note is a MINOR complaint; the part of the headset that rests on the top of your head/hair has worn out for me. The muffs also wore out, but I replaced them. If there is a way to replace the foam under the band, please let me know because I would love to have them looking brand new again. I broke the cable that came with the headphones by accidentally vacuuming it about 2 years in (stupid, I know), but the detachable cable saved me some money. Also nice if you want to swap out different size cables. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking to invest in headphones for studio mixing. 5 |

I have been using passive volume devices for my KRK Rokit 5 monitors but the ones I’ve tried seemed cheap and would often lose the audio signal if the volume was too low. This product has a heavy duty feel and the volume knob has some weight to it. It’s a pleasure to turn and feels well made. I don’t have the issue of the audio signal dropping anymore and I am able to plug my headphones into it and control their volume with a separate knob. I haven’t tried to plug my guitar or mic into it yet but I hear it is great for recording. 5 |

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The JBL Authentics 200 is a fantastic bookshelf speaker that delivers exceptional audio quality and style. From the moment you unbox these speakers, you can tell JBL put a lot of thought into the design. The wood cabinet has a classic retro look with modern flair thanks to the mesh grille accents. But it's the sound quality that really makes these speakers stand out. The two-way design utilizes a 6.5" polymer-coated woofer and a 1" soft-dome tweeter. Together they produce crisp highs, clear mids, and rich lows, filling your room with detailed and dynamic audio. Whether you're listening to music, watching movies, or gaming, the JBL Authentics 200 speakers bring out the best in your audio. The soundstage is quite expansive for a bookshelf speaker this size too. The instruments and vocals seem to come from distinct points around the room, making for a very immersive listening experience. The bass is tight and punchy, adding a nice sense of warmth to music. Overall, the JBL Authentics 200 delivers phenomenal sound in a stylish and compact package. Audiophiles will love the accurate audio reproduction, while the average consumer will appreciate the easy setup and appealing aesthetics. If you're looking for speakers that offer exceptional quality and design for the price, the JBL Authentics 200 should be at the top of your list. 5 |

If you need a passive near field studio monitor a little like Yamaha NS10s but with a nicer sound these are your babies! They have low distortion and a really nice high end and not harsh but also retain a very workable low end which makes mixing a breeze. I use them everyday as a mixer in Los Angeles. 5 |

This studio monitor control may be passive, but its knob is anything but. Simple setup, minimal cables. Elegant buttons, and one glorious beast of a knob with butter smooth movement. 5 |
