Ive used the standard Sony studio monitoring headphones for video production purposes, and while they sound fine, they just dont last very long...ear cup material comes apart or just comes off. The Sennheiser HD 280s are buil to stand up to the riggors of location production applications while providing great isolated sound for monitoring purposes. My only compliant/wish would be for them to switch to a non-coiled headphone cable...gets stretched out if someone decides to wrap it around the earpieces or if it gets shoved into a bag.

I use them listening to music (if you like a lot of bass, these won't be for you), for editing audio, and for monitoring during livestreaming and podcast recordings, and video production. Build is great, portable as they fold down well, ear pads are soft and don't get bothersome while wearing for a long time. Highly recommend for the podcasters, video producer, any media production and monitoring.

This is a great pear of Headphones for music production. I bought these a couple weeks ago because I wanted some studio headphones to connect directly to my audio interface so I can record my friend in a more efficient manner with less latency in FL Studio 20. I love these headphones and my friend also loves them. 10/10 would definitely recommend

I use this model for monitoring and mixing in my studio. These headphones are the best I have ever used and goes right along in the same category as the SM57 microphones. Best sound and amazing price for the performance!

For the work I do, I typically use monitoring headphones and never considered buying Beats, but my wife wanted a pair, and I was pleasantly surprised by the size, feel, and sound. Listening to music on these (just about any genre) sounds great and reminds me of the first time I heard my favorite music through a high end home audio receiver as a kid. There's this very rich tone that just feels right.

I purchased these headphones mostly for audio monitoring while recording a podcast. They are great for that. However, these headphones are even better for music! My setup is Fiio Q1 Mark II (I have it connected via USB to my Moto G5 Plus phone) portable headphone amp, but Im sure they are easy enough to power through a regular 3.5mm output directly. As someone said here, I can hear elements of music that I havent heard before. I particularly like the crisp highs on these. They get a bit tiring after about 60-90 minutes of listening (the actual fit and music wise) but that album-worth length is worth it! They are very closed and leak very little sound, which is helpful if you have a small baby sleeping close by :-) Great purchase!

I got these headphones for three main purposes: 1) Listening to music without disturbing housemates 2) Monitoring mixes and click tracks while recording at home 3) Monitoring and checking sounds on location both for music recordings, shows, and for video. I have not tested them very much for the third case yet (will soon!), but of the first two I'd say these excel at #2 and are good for #1. 1: They sound really nice, but I have a hard time wearing them for extended periods of time (more than 2-3 hours) just for music and I'd prefer speakers. 2: They have awesome isolation! I can crank up click tracks and they haven't come through yet. Very good for drumming, because they block out a ton of the drum noise so the volume doesn't have to be uncomfortable for the drummer. Much better for drumming than any other headphones I've tried.

I love these headphones for monitoring and mixing when doing video editing. I love listening to music on these even more. I work in a somewhat noisy office environment, and these phones are VERY quiet. I sometimes can't hear when people are trying to talk to me. The frequency response is also incredible. You can hear deep bass as well as crisp details in the high end. I have had these for over 5 years and have yet to find other headphones I prefer. The only issue might be that since they are somewhat big and bulky they can cause fatigue after extended use. I don't really mind it.
