I bought this SSD drive to replace a 500GB hard drive in my old laptop computer. After having it, the computer is improved on speed. This is very good, especially for the price $29.99.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I had gotten a nice deal on a budget 15 inch Acer laptop last Thanksgiving although it came with only 256GB SSD. I thought that little storage would not be an issue since I was going to use the laptop mainly for browsing and emails. However, I fell in love with the laptop and I started using it more (storing photos / downloading movies for watching on plane). My laptop needed more hard drive space and an upgrade to 500GB SSD from Western Digital solved all my issues The actual upgrade is simple and there are lot of Youtube videos that explain this step. If you do not have hard drive enclosure I would recommend getting one before you start. The entire process took me close to 2 hours. The new WD Blue SN570 NVMe™ SSD was a perfect fit for my laptop. I have noticed increase in laptop performance and have not run into any issues as such. Great replacement SSD.

Just upgraded my laptop hard drive which was 5200RPM, but since the price is now right I decided enough waiting & got myself an SSD!!! Wow what a difference, I even timed before and after boot up times! I can hardly believe this is my 7 year old Lenovo!! I'll never go back to a mechanic hard drive again! HHD boot up to desktop fully loaded was 2:33:05 & now was an SSD it is.... 00:31:17!!!! Simply wooooow!!!

Laptop was reporting hard drive as failing. Decided to replace my 5400rpm HDD with an SSD boot drive and a 7200rpm HDD into this Data Doubler. Instructions could have been a little better, but were easy enough to follow. Installation really was not that difficult. Kit came with all tools necessary for job and there were a few extra screws in the pack just in case I lost one of those tiny things. Tripled my onboard storage!

I used this to clone my original 1TB mechanical hard drive to a new 1TB SSD. The cloning went flawlessly and the laptop performs much faster with the SSD.

The Seagate Thin hard drive in my HP laptop died after three years of heavy use. The HP 11t x360 is a pain to take apart so I chose the San Disk SSD as a way to never replace the drive again (if the laptop lasts another three years). The laptop boots in half the time with the SanDisk SSD, runs cooler with longer battery life. I am impressed with SSD technology! Also, I had forgotten to write the drive serial number down before closing up the laptop. But, B&H had the serial number on the packing slip!

I wish I had known to buy a 3.5” adapter AND a SATA to USB adapter, so that the SSD would fit into my PC’s hard drive bay and I could do the cloning process with the Acronis software download. Cloning the hard drive over to the SSD was relatively easy. If it’s not booting properly, check the SATA connections to the drive and motherboard.

SSD's make a laptop with a hard drive appear much faster. Some desktops and laptops are fitted with an M.2 SSD that is too small to be practical. Since SSD prices have come down so much over the years, upgrades are economical. When upgrading a laptop, you clone the existing drive onto the new M.2 SSD inserted in this enclosure and swap the two. Or you add the new M.2 SSD into a previously unoccupied slot. This enclosure makes it possible. And in the rare case the drive cloning did not succeed, nothing is lost. An essential part of your computer toolkit.
