Bought separately it comes in a really nice little snap close plastic box to protect it. However, the best part is that Sony uses it in many different cameras (unlike their competitors who seem to have the battery of the month club). My HX80 and RX100 both use this cell. I do use the external Sony charger; which is much quicker than using a UPS supply and charging it in the camera. On travel, I only need one charger for both cameras.
