I highly recommend these M disks to do a back up of your cloud and all of your photos that you take with your smart phones and backup to your laptop. If it's true that these desks disks can last up to 100 years then the only thing we have to worry about is to make sure in 100 years they still have devices that can read these discs and share these photos that we back up today.

After a few years paying good money for cloud backup, I finally needed to use it to replace everything on my new computer. Ten full days later, I still didn't have all my files because the cloud download created files on my C drive even after I directed it elsewhere. Never again. I'm back to my good old reliable WD externals for everything. I've always used them and believe in WD, but now I see they can handle all my needs for less money.

If you shoot professionally, data loss anxiety of clients is something you want to avoid. Building redundancy into your production process is critical. Using professional cards is expensive but necessary. The cost of an experienced psychologist is $275 per hour. Invest the money of a few sessions in the SD cards, and you will feel better. Guaranteed. I use a Canon C70 and two card slots in the camera. This way, I use two high performance Angelbird cards to backup footage instantly in the field.in the camera. You can use an HDMI recorder, but I like the backup provided by the extra card. In my studio, I place one card in a fireproof safe while I upload the footage to my cloud storage and my inhouse raid backup system. Only once I have verified that everything is properly backed up onto the cloud and locally, I reformat both Angelbird cards in the C70 on the day of my next shoot. This procedure has worked flawlessly so far. I don't know what the lifetime is of these cards, but I have not had any problems. They are capable of recording full 4K. With slower cards, I ran into buffer overload of cards and missed important shoots.

I own a bunch of these. Inexpensive, lots of memory, a good way to back up your data without having to pay so much money for cloud storage. I triple backup all of my work on three different drives, and when those are filled up, I just buy a few more. Just backup your stuff, and leave them in a closet. Not a drive for editing. Stick to SSD for that, for sure.

Purchased the 4TB My Cloud Home after my 2TB was hacked. So far this unit is working great. I'm able to backup files and pictures from all my computers and mobile devices. Setup etc was easy. Have to get a backup of my computer hard drives and then all will be great.

I really love that the new cloud key displays the IP address and the fact that is has a battery backup in case you loose power. Everything is setup and running great.
