I'm glad TASCAM still makes stuff like this. Multitracking on this thing is much easier than trying to record onto a computer. It's design is intuitive if you've used a mixer or a multitrack recorder before. Laying down tracks has never been easier for me. The built in effects are quite useful if you don't already have a compressor and/or effects processor. They are more limited than a DAW or actual hardware but with proper planning, some very good mixes can be made. There also are effect send ports so you can still affect the track either as it's going down or when it's being mixed. If you are looking for a cheap and efficient way to record in a home studio, look no further. The bang for the buck here is enormous. My only beef is that it only records at 48K sample rate. Most DAWs are capable of 192K samples at 32 bit depth. (If the sound card is good enough). If you like to work with hardware instead of software, get one of these. The amount you would have to spend on a DAW program, a direct box, and a new sound card would put you in the hole much more than this will. You won't have screw around with plugins in a DAW or PC to make some decent music.

I bought this so I could hit record/play/stop in my DAW easily while playing guitar/drums. Once I got the drivers installed it works flawlessly. It has the added benefit of moving up or down in the track list which is nice for some limited hands-free DAW operation. It also has tons of presets I've never used which probably add useful features but I haven't bothered with all that yet. Build quality is most excellent. Top notch. Solid metal with plastic buttons roughly identical to the Boss multi-effects pedals. Having said that, I am nervous about accidentally stepping on that jog wheel. 5 stars since I can't think of any reason to deduct points for anything.

I wanted to record Flute or Sax into my original music with my DAW and needed a decent mic with a simple hookup. What's easier than USB? I looked at the Blue Yeti, MXL2010, AT2020 and others. I purchased the AT2020 because of it's specs/price and couldn't be happier. My flute sounds great with no effects and I can sit 12-18 inches away.

I am a drummer and record do my own recordings so, was complicated to be turning everytime I had to check something in my DAW but with this mounting, I will be able to have a second monitor on a mic stand right in front of me

This is a great mic for both vocals and instruments. I record in my little studio and it sounds as nice as my old U87i.

I use this mic to record instruments in my house. Hardly any noise whatsoever. Nothing bad to be said about this mic.

Since this purchase was my first foray into digital recording, I spent time researching comparable products and the accompanying software packages. I decided on the Steinberg UR242 because of the reviews of their preamps, four separate inputs, and the price. B&H had the product in stock when other vendors did not, and they offered free next day shipping. I received the UR242 from B&H as promised. Installation of drivers and software went flawlessly, and the UR242 works as I expected. The only drawback is the learning curve to use the Cubase DAW software, but I believe that would be the same with almost any DAW.
