Best Home Ip Camera For Synology

I really like the Synology NAS! Setup was easy, I just watched a YouTube video and I was set. It appeared on my home network and I was able to begin copying files to it right away. Pro tip: Assign an IP address to the MAC address in your home router so it has the same IP address for the rest of its life. 5 |

We have purchased two of these so far to use primarily as NVRs for a large number of IP cameras on a school campus. Licensing costs aside, Synology Surveillance Station does a really nice job making it easy to set up and scale with the number of cameras you have. We linked two together, making one the primary and the other a secondary target for recordings. Surveillance Station records direct-to-disk, and does a decent job of adjusting camera settings directly using ONVIF. We have about 50+ cameras running at resolutions from 1280x720 up to 2560x1600, some PTZ, some ceiling-mount fisheyes, mostly wide angle fixed, and everything works pretty well. We were even able to use the manual camera configuration to use some uncommon double-lens cameras. With about 26 cameras assigned to each RS422+, we see about 20-25% CPU on each on average during a typical day. We can comfortably handle 32 per unit, and supposedly up to 40 if needed. With x4 6TB drives in each set in SHR-1 (equivalent to RAID5) we have about a month or so of footage retention. The licensing is a little pricey at $50 per camera (unless you buy in bulk from some european IP camera shops...), but it is perpetual and I think worth the expense. Using two of these units, 8 cheap drives from eBay (luckily these do not suffer from the Synology whitelist) and a bunch of camera licenses, for around under $5000 I was able to build and set up a really easy to use and reliable NVR system with plenty of future expandability. 2-3 users are regularly connected on their desktops without issue. 5 |

Until the AXIS M4308-PLE, 12 MP sensor model is available, ordered this 6 MP model. Outdoor, home installation. Used for 180-degree view of front of home. Camera's web-based admin interface excellent, granular, enterprise-grade configs., but still intuitive for prosumers. Motion trigger zones easy to config. Excellent video even at 6 PM. Built-in microphone simplifies inclusion of audio in recordings. Although not in Synology's current database of compatible camera's, Synology does have a generic Axis camera template in Surveillance Station that works well with this model. The camera also supports ONVIF open standard (however, some of those open standard profiles might be HTTP only, unencrypted streams?). 5 |

Having been on Home Fiber for over a year and noticeable differences in download speeds between PCs with the same setup, I decided it was time to upgrade my home network. I had been using a Nighthawk X4S, but it could not keep up with a family of 6 (with 4 teenage boys who game all the time). In January I started my transition to a new home network setup. I went with Ubiquiti line of products for networking/security and Synology for my NAS. My home already had CAT5e running to the majority of rooms, but I took this time to run some more lines to hard wire as many devices as possible. Below is my current setup. It may be overkill, but I am consistently getting over 900Mbps on all wired PCs (which never occurred), gaming devices are downloading faster than before, and WIFI signal across my house and outdoors (1.5 acre lot), is better than it is has ever been. For the first time, I feel like I am getting the full benefit of Home Fiber. My Synology NAS is attached by to my UniFi Switch via Link Aggregation. Setup was easy and it has been performing flawlessly. I am using it to backup 7 PCs, Photos, Home Videos, Movies, Music. B&H shipped everything out quickly and I received everything in a timely manner allowing me to stay on track with my project. It took my 2 weeks to convert everything from start to finish. THIS IS THE BEST SMART HOME CAMERA ON THE MARKET!!! No contest. I've tried many others such as Nest and Amazon's versions but they pale in comparison to Ecobee. The camera is easy to install and looks beautiful. The app is incredibly user friendly and camera quality is top notch. I would recommend this camera to everyone! Thank you, Ecobee, for making this product! You guys are the best! 5 |

This switch makes it easy to add Ethernet ports to your home network, you just need to run an Ethernet cable from your router to the switch, then reboot your system to make sure the IP addresses are assigned and you can still “see” all of your devices. I had a NAS drive that was assigned a new IP address after the install, and rebooting the pc helped fix the access issue. I was able connect another pc as well as another device to my network very quickly, all connected at 1GB/s. 5 |
