Best Home Studio Recording Drum Kit

I use these K92s for studio recording an electronic drum kit. The quick response and frequency range makes for a really authentic acoustic drum sound reproduction. The volume levels are huge which means you could take this into a live, environment even without monitoring. The audio clarity, volume and dynamics easily matches, or out performs some headsets that are priced at 5x the price of the K92. The closed back does prevent a large amount of leakage but they can still be heard significantly enough that they could be picked up by sensitive microphones should you be trying to record acoustic instruments. So could get click track / scratch track bleed into the main mix.

I use an SR18 as the basis for my drum kit when I record. As most folks know, it is capable of being a really great program-the-drums-in-advance drummer, but I've found that when I record, I work better in real time. What I mean is that I *could* create drum patterns and write them into the SR18 memory, using them as building blocks to create an internal song that would record and play back with computer-accurate perfection for live performances, but for recording, it doesn't feel as dynamic as simply playing the pads as I'm recording. As with most human beings, I don't do a perfect job, and those imperfections add a subtlety to the song that keeps it interesting. The SR18 -- along with separate tracks for the bass/snare, ride cymbal, crash cymbal, toms, and high hat -- lets me do that perfectly. At mixdown, I can adjust each component in the kit to complement the other sounds in the mix, and arrive at a magnificently realistic drum part. Love this thing!

Just received the drum kit set of mics. Very happy! They will be used for a recording session. On first test they sounded good. I will know more as the recording session goes on. Great product.

Use to mix drum mikes down to one output channel for home digital recording. Recently purchased, so limited use. Simple to use, fantastic performance. No cons to date

i use this Pyle PDMIC78 microphone for home recording on guitar amps, snare drum and vocals. very sturdy construction and very easy to get a great sound from it. the only thing i didn't like was the XLR to 1/4cable that comes with it. sounds much better with a XLR-XLR low impedance cable. i can't believe the low price! it is impossible to go wrong with this purchase and B&H shipped it to me lightning fast Thanks!

Pretty standard drum kit mic set up for both studio & live. I tend to prefer an i5 for snare, but the 57 is OK there as well. I've always liked the thump of the beta 52a on kick - so this made a great way to get the kick and some additional 57's - even if they aren't always going to be used on the drum kit. The clamps are well made and work fine, but judging from other folks sets, are a bit of a pain to take apart enough to keep neatly organized between uses. Not sure there's an ideal solution for tom clamps - but these are quite good.
