Best Open Back Headphones For Audiophiles

Obviously not for audiophiles, but just a decent pair of headphones for a fair price.

For decades I have heard of Sennheiser headphones from my audiophiles friends, so when I wanted to upgrade my headphones that I was using to monitor the audio feed for an on line church service, I researched this model. The specs were close to what I was currently using, but better. The first time that I used them, I was not disappointed with the audio quality, though because I wear eye glasses, I do not enjoy the total sound isolation that the ear cups provide, but they produce a great sound and are not uncomfortable to wear for an hour plus. The value package that B&H offers with it just adds to it. It definitely produces wonderful audio at a reasonable price. I was able to hear issues that I was missing with my other set and correct the mix for a better feed.

Absolutely amazing headphones for someone who is trying to delve into the world of audiophiles. Very noticeable difference when listening to most of my music. Very Durable too. I accidentally slammed my car door on them and they were perfectly fine. Very comfortable to use even after many hours. I didn't start feeling discomfort until after about 6 hours.

I have auditioned a lot of the current TOTL headphones on the market. In that price range, AKG K812 is the headphone to sought after if you want something that is very pure, very revealing, while at the same time very holographic and very musical. Great for both engineers and audiophiles, though some audiophiles will crave for a balanced option. One small con is that, as it is so revealing, you will not want to listen to your poorly mastered tracks anymore. Also, in some days when you want a soft and mellow sound for your ears, these headphones will sound a bit too sharp and too tizzy. The reason why I only give 4 stars to the durability is because the screws near the ear cup of the headphone will loosen or tighten on normal use. Though they can be readjusted using a simple screwdriver, this is something not desirable.

I bought these headphones to use with my Nikon D4 for recording movie files. I'm sure audiophiles will tell you there is something better out there, but all I need is verification that the sound is clean going into my camera. For that purpose, these work just fine.
