Best Plex Streaming Device

The Shield still reigns supreme as the best streaming device. Playback of 4k video from my Plex server works like a charm. The UI is more responsive than any other device. Most importantly it supports every audio codec I've thrown at it. Highly recommended.

Best device for media streaming into a home theater receiver!

These things tend to be low in stock. I was very glad to get one from B&H. Best streaming device out there, hands down. in addition to all the basics of running amazon prime, netflix etc flawlessly, the Shield also loads all the apks you want quickly and has the power to run them well. So much more flexible than the Apple TV, an excellent Android-based addition to the home. Just ordered another one for the basement.

The Synology DiskStation DS224 has become my Plex haven. Setting up this two-bay NAS took a couple of days for the initial data scrubbing and pool setup, but the hassle was well worth it. Now, I enjoy flawless remote access to my media library. The DS224 handles Plex with finesse, providing a seamless streaming experience. Its robust performance and the ability to customize my data setup make it an ideal choice for anyone looking to create their own media haven. The slight setup investment pays off big time for the convenience and reliability it brings to my Plex streaming escapades.

I bought mine a year ago (with 2x16tb red), I use it mostly for streaming my content (plex). It’s extremely easy to use with the web gui, has it’s own apps like my cloud (used to sync all my devices),the 4gb ram is enough but still I upgraded it to 16gb. The only thing I wish would be better is the cpu, or at list have the option to replace it myself. Overall I love that product

This is my second (1) BEST �DEVICE

This is definitely the easiest way to achieve 4K HDR with support for lossless audio formats (DTS-HD MA or Dolby TrueHD) from Plex. Just make sure to select audio passthrough to let your AVR decode the signal. Beyond that, the UI is very responsive and easy to configure. I have it on wired gigabit Ethernet and have no problems streaming 4K UHD from my Plex server on another device in the house. I'm not using this device as a Plex server, but it seems to be capable of that feature. For those of you with an IR-based universal remote (i.e. Logitech Harmony 650 or similar), this does not have a built-in IR receiver. The remote does have an IR blaster, but that is used to control other devices if you wish to consolidate around the Shield remote. You can add IR support with something like an FLIRC and some customization, but it will take a bit of effort. Overall, this device is pretty pricey, but it's really the only one that can do it all when it comes to HD audio and video, which it tackles easily. While I generally have Roku devices around the rest of the house, I decided to spend the money on this for the media room to get compatibility for those HD formats.
