Perfect little point and shoot camera. Easy to use, images look great, and the hi-def video recording capability is nice.

It looks like a point and shoot camera, but if you take the time it can do a whole lot more. Best features are the instant Bocah effect, high speed filming for capturing action, and the addition of the mini tripod can be used as a remote control within a few feet from the camera. The size makes it great for travel. The on-board mic is decent up close and the fuzzy bunny's foot windjammer is definately a plus!

Compact, fits in my pocket. Incredibly high image quality. I don't know why all the negative reviews for video? If I wanted a video camera I would have purchased a video camera, and not a point and shoot that also does video. The videos I've taken have come out nicely, but I wouldn't buy a point and shoot for blogging... get a video camera. With a 20 megapixel 3/4 in sensor I've been able to take photos of the northern lights, solar eclipses and more. Often at almost the same quality as a full size SLR, but night and day better than my iPhone. The controls are clunkier since it's all menu based, but as the saying goes... the best camera is the one you have with you and the compact nature means I can actually keep this camera in my pocket. This is amazing for any type of outdoor activity where a full size SLR is cumbersome. If you're looking for a high end point and shoot that will fit in your pocket, then this is an amazing camera. If you're looking for an SLR or a video camera I can't help you as that's a different product. The key is to know what you're looking for.

This is like a perfect audio visual point & shoot microphone video camera that will get more active use than my more professional cameras -- with simple very good top quality audio.

I've had a number of point and shoot cameras over the years and although they were pretty good cameras, there was always something missing. I was always looking for something more, maybe better video, a longer zoom or a remote control - something. I read about this camera online , bought one and I couldn't be happier. I am far from a photo expert but I know what I like and I know a nice picture and/or video when I see one. This camera takes amazing still pictures and the videos in AVCHD format are outstanding, even inside under incandescent lighting. Add in the longer zoom that you would normally find on a larger sensor point and shoot camera and in my opinion it is the perfect travel camera. I also love the Panasonic Image App which allows me to use my smartphone as a remote control. My only complaint and it's not really a complaint is that the camera has so many functions that it can be a bit overwhelming at first, especially if you are not real familiar with the Panasonic menu system. Also, the camera body is very slippery so be sure to use a wrist or neck strap - it will slip out of your hands. I have to comment on the service from B&H. I live in the Vancouver, Canada area and I ordered this camera online early in the morning @1:00am. It was delivered to my office by noon the next day, less than thirty six hours from New York to Vancouver. Not only was the service incredible, but the total price with the free accessories made buying from B&H a no-brainer. I give both the camera and B&H five stars out of five.

For a point and shoot, this camera is pretty robust. It is a little spendy, but you get a lot of bang for your buck in such a small package. I purchased it to replace my Panasonic LX100 which rides shotgun alongside my bulky Pentax K1 and lenses. The video is pretty spectacular as everyone is reporting. There's really not much more I can say that others haven't said for video quality and ease of use. I will say that this camera also shines taking stills, both during the day and at night. I have only two complaints and both are workable. 1) lens needs to be wider for video 2) No dial to adjust exposure/aperture. There are certain expects more around ease of shooting stills I like better in the Panasonic, but ultimately you can do everything, you just have to know where all those features are on the menu screen or set them up as a program setting.

This is a great point and shoot camera with video capabilities. I am still learning the features, but so far it has been relatively easy to use. I am not accustom to using the back display for taking pictures, no eye piece feature. The color purple was a big win for me. I am excited to use it for this year's vacation.

I’m glad I waited a year after purchasing to write this, as the body is becoming more and more appreciated in my daily work flow. I’m basically a professional instagrammer, not a photographer or a videographer, just a content creator who puts out a LOT of stuff from portraits to vlogs. I used to shoot photos with a 5Diii and video with an SL2, but this combines the benefits of both— for stills you’ve got your full frame sensor, for video you’ve got a flippy screen and focus tracking. It can take your EF and EF-S lenses, so it’s a seamless upgrade from a crop sensor kit, you can use alllll of your old lenses. The WiFi functions make fast content creation super breezy, just dump stuff on your phone and post it. I own both this camera and the EOS R, and there’s never been a shoot where I absolutely need the R and not the RP. In fact there are times when I need the RP and not the R— when traveling light is a factor. I highly recommend the control ring adapter, it makes things way easier to adjust on the fly. I also love the feel with the added grip extension, something I didn’t think would be worth the extra money but it honestly makes the camera feel more substantial and (mental games here I guess) more capable— it just feels like a nicer camera with the grip installed. My only complaints are the lack of a one touch button to change auto focus points, which the R does offer (I think it says “direct af point” or something) or the lack of a registered AF point, like the 5Diii had. It feels tedious to go from a single point to tracking. My 5Diii could have a different AF point assigned to two back buttons, to be engaged instantly without pressing other buttons. I miss that. Otherwise this camera is brilliant. It’s streamlined my work flow considerably. Update your firmware ASAP, and start playing with canon’s picture style editor, as the EVF sees the would through the assigned picture style and you suddenly become very aware of your colors.
