Small and portable it can be used in an AC wall plug or in a DC outlet to recharge batteries. It was inexpensive and fits easily in my camera bag.Charging time seems about as long as the more expensive Nikon version. What is not to like.

Prior to purchasing this charger, I had to plug my Handycam to a wall outlet to charge the battery. This prevented me from using the Handycam. Now, I am free to make videos while my standby battery is charging.

From what I have use the charger, it automatically cuts itself off so you don't have to set it to a timer. Also you can plug it just to a wall outlet or a bar and not connect the camera to a computer.

Agree with all the five-star reviews - this charger is compact, tucking away the prongs so as not to spear you from inside a handbag or camera bag; it is reliable and fast as advertised, and it treats Canon batteries just right! Yet, I feel it important to mention its selfishness when it’s doing its job... Because there is no way to cord this away from the power source, if you have two of these puppies, you’ll need TWO entire wall outlets to charge them. That’s because the LC-E6 obfuscates the second outlet, forcing you to unplug anything else that’s there. I even tried carrying an outlet multiplier when traveling. While that moves the charger away from the wall, it still covers open outlets and USB ports such that you can’t keep things plugged in there, either.
