[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So first, this drive is geared toward portability and not top-end performance as most would want these days. When I say portability that goes toward travel not only in the states but around the world. It comes with 6 power adapter-style plugs so you can change out depending on where you are in the world. Not only that but it also serves as a quick USB hub so you can use different peripherals through the USB 3.0 connection the drive uses on your system. It does have flashy RGB LEDs and you can change the colors or patterns on through the software downloaded to manage the drive. The software allows you to backup, restore, or mirror your data files. If you have Razer Chroma then you can also link up your RGBs with that as well using the toolkit software. I did do a performance test to see what the real world specs were compared to seeing what was online and here are the ones I ran: IOPS 4K Read Min: 1.04 MB/Sec. Average: 7.02 MB/Sec. Max: 7.85 MB/Sec. IOPS 4K Write Min: 0.00 MB/Sec. Average: 0.76 MB/Sec. Max: 5.97 MB/Sec. IOPS 4KQD32 Read Min: 0.93 MB/Sec. Average: 26.96 MB/Sec. Max: 36.09 MB/Sec. IOPS 4KQD32 Write Min: 0.00 MB/Sec. Average: 1.30 MB/Sec. Max: 9.10 MB/Sec. IOPS 512K Write Min: 0.00 MB/Sec. Average: 36.44 MB/Sec. 1Max: 30.8 MB/Sec. My opinion but if you are a traveling gamer/media watcher/need storage on the go while going around the world or even in your own country then this is a great external hard drive for you. Easy to setup and easy to pack away. 5 |

The Read and Write performance of this unit is about 40% of the more expensive units, but it's more than adequate for the playback of HD video files. Blackmagic Design's test shows 110 MB/s Read and 24 MB/s Write rates. Sandra tests at 1550 IOPS with FAT formatting and 522 IOPS when reformatted with exFAT. It works great as a large capacity file sharing device. 5 |

Not all SSDs are created equal. Make sure you check out the IOPS and the read and write speeds. PNY makes on of the fastest. 5 |

Let me say this as someone who has never previously used an SSD as a boot drive on any PC: This thing is FAST! It took me a while to get my data transferred to the SSD and the system booting properly, but once I got it working, the performance is nothing short of stunning. It cut boot time in half and eliminated the need to wait for the system to settle down after logging in. Everything just loads faster with this SSD. Quite simply, it made my system feel like new again. With 3D V-NAND technology, I am absolutely confident this drive will outlive me. I wouldn't be surprised if this drive lasts well beyond the 150 terabytes TBW warranty limit, and yet I can't even imagine writing that much data to the drive over the next ten years... Anvil's Storage Utilities reported 97,444 read IOPS and 86,763 write IOPS at QD16, while ATTO Disk Benchmark returned 560 MB/s sequential read and 530 MB/s sequential write speeds. These numbers are absolutely mind-boggling and incredibly hard to beat before SATA Express and M.2 become mainstream. Samsung has always been at the forefront of SSD technology thanks to their total vertical integration, and it clearly shows in the SSD 850 PRO. I would be hard-pressed to find anyone who can make a better SSD than Samsung. Highly recommended. 5 |

I shucked the drive from the case which may have warranty implications, but works faster than expected at 196MB/s read and 193MB/s write. Actual drive was white label WD120EMFZ.
