Second time buying this tripod. It is affordable and can properly support both dslr and professional video cameras such as RED and ARRI cameras. Counterbalance systems (with DSLRs) are supported. Overall, great tripod.

Not using the mic for professional videography. Have a DSLR that has great video capture and wanted to upgrade the audio capture without adding on too much bulk for transport and use. 95% of my use is photos, but am increasingly taking video After a few weeks of use, the VideoMicro has noticeably improved the quality of audio, mostly in dialogue. Off camera audio is a bit more muted, which I expected from a shotgun mic. Note that some DSLRs (e.g. Canon 5D) have a manual setting for audio intake gain that is arguably set too high and could lead to audible static on intake on some external mics, the VideoMicro included. A one-time adjustment downward in the menu settings fixed the issue and I haven't had to do any post-processing audio adjustments to make the audio louder

I am a professional videographer...this head is great for larger video cameras. the double handles are very helpful. very sturdily built. I now own three of these heads

Pros:Best shotgun video mic I have ever used. If you want to use it on a non-professional camcorder with a smaller mic hot shoe, like a Canon Vixia, check out @ for a converter. Cons: It can bring out base sounds a little more which you would have to adjust in the microphone, and always remember to turn it off when you turn the camera off, or you'll run the battery dead. Otherwise great mic.
