Like most people who’ve been cooped up at home for the last six months, finding an escape from the collapse of civilization that won’t destroy your marriage or damage your liver has become an Optomal pursuit (see what I did there?). This is where the Optoma Technology HD 146X Full HD DLP Home Theater Projector comes in. Def so high, every wrinkle, every bit of dander and speck of mud beckons you to step into an alternate world. A machine so quiet you can hear the zombies coming. And the remote control is nice because being able to turn the projector off without having to move from the blanket cocoon, so carefully constructed, is important when you want to sit in the dark and stare into the void for an indeterminate amount of time because time no longer has meaning, minutes and hours are null, and there are only episodes of ‘Girls’ and Adam Driver’s beautiful, giant, lop-sided face in so much def I can see every mole on it. Purchased as a gift, but really this was for me. Ideally would have one in every room projecting whatever things in the world I missed the most. Probably never leaving the house again, now it’s by choice. Thanks Optoma Technology HD 146X Full HD DLP Home Theater Projector, you’re the husband now.

This is an excellent 3D projector. There is absolutely, no cross-talk and no flicker at all, even with material that is not very well known for its 3D quality, such as Tangled, or Despicable me and Monsters vs Alliens blu ray 3D! It delivers very bright and perfect colour saturation even in daylight conditions in the projection room with very low noise! I saw no judder at all, even in very fast action scenes! The only problem is with its set-up, since there is luck of vertical, or horizontal lense shift! However, with a little effort, this is a disadvantage which can be overcome! DLP technology from Texas Instruments, and 3D-RF, or DLP-Link technology developed by Optoma, really deliver the great performance results, Optoma claims for these technologies to perform in its official site! ...And all this at a fraction of the cost other 3D projectors have! I'm off to getting the upcoming Optoma HD83 model for sure, especially if it sells at such low a price as the HD33 model!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this projector to replace an excellent Epson HD LCD projector. I was attracted to the laser light source and liked that this LG model had two separate colors which I thought would reduce the likelihood of rainbow patterns and indeed I haven't noticed these at all so far. The 4K is crisp and the picture is bright. HDR mode is very noticeable and I like the range of picture options. I use an Apple 4K TV and Xbox Series X so wasn't too interested in the onboard WebOS but its generally pretty responsive and intuitive so probably useful to have. The projected image does have a small thin light border and in super-widescreen 2.35:1 mode there are of course lighter bars at top and bottom; I'm not sure why with all the adaptive dimming technology they couldn't make it go really dark in those areas too, but projecting onto a wall with custom sprayed paint using MissisipiMan's formula in the AVSforum works really well with this projector and still looks better than the movie theater and is a big improvement over the Epson because of the 4K and laser technology, and is now useable in a brighter room. My advice is save your money on the expensive screen and splurge on this projector if you are thinking about it. I do think this technology is a generation ahead of the last and what's nice is it's also LG quality (I knew they made the best LCD IPS panels for computer displays as we have 6 of them, but now find they make really good projectors too) and really nice design and aesthetics. Switching on and off is fast and reliable and ambient noise seems quieter than anything else we have in the media room. We run a 30ft HDMI cable originally intended for 18Gbps through the ceiling and I was glad it didn't have to be replaced and meets all the XBox and Apple diagnostic tests at 4K/60Hz and 1080p/120Hz and works well with ARC sound too, even with a 3 year old receiver.
