Best Racing Simulator Shifter

Adds a new level of interactivity to racing and driving games that greatly enhances immersion and enjoyment. I have driven automatic cars my whole life, but for playing racing games or Truck Simulator I really like having the added control and activity that manually switching gears provides. Feel more like a racer or a trucker. Quality is great, feels heavy and solid and mostly metal. Mounted perfectly to my wheelstand pro with RGS upgrade. Quality and functionality-wise I've had no issues with this shifter, it recognized automatically in Forza Horizon 5 without any configuration at all, and was very easy to configure in Truck Simulator with an SKRS truck shifter knob on it. You do need to install a software driver when you first set it up in order for it to work correctly, but it's very simple setup. It is expensive for what it is, but I don't regret the purchase at all because of how much it has changed the way I play pretty much any driving/racing game. After getting this, my setup feels complete. Just a note on the seller: I never ordered anything from B&H before but I was impressed with the quick order processing and shipping. I ordered the product later in the evening of Dec. 12, and received the product morning of Dec. 15. Good experience, I'd buy from B&H again.

Sim racing hobby or any hobby at some point can be expensive. But if quality and performance is what you after, the Thrustmaster brand is a sure hit! The TH8A add on shifter is no exemption. It's built with quality and performance in mined that fits well in any Sim Racing game both console or PC. It's a H shifter that can also be converted to sequential shifter for drag or rally racing. All tools are included in the box. Manual shifting is the heart of. Sim Racing. Don't have a shifter? Get one or replace that wonky shifter and get the TH8A by Thrustmaster.

First off, to be honest, this is not a must have in order to enjoy sim racing. It is a great shifter that enhances your sim racing experience though. If you already have a decent FFB wheel, an upgraded pedal set and a good size HD TV or monitor(s), then the TH8A is the next step to take. If not, buy those things before buying the shifter. I have mine directly plugged into my T150 and I am using it with the T3PA pedals (I also picked up the Ricmotech Short Shift kit for the TH8A). Project CARS, DiRT Rally and Assetto Corsa are a lot of fun with the shifter. Just remember: the car needs to have an H pattern shifter in order to really work correctly. New race cars mainly use sequential/paddle shifters and the older cars use the H pattern shifting. The shifter does allow it to be used as a sequential system, but your paddles are probably faster and easier to use. I have also used it as my e-brake in DiRT Rally. Most games allow an auto-clutch option so you can use the shifter without having to use (or even have) a clutch peddal. The shifter is well built, has a lot of versatilty in where & how it can be mounted, and is a great addition to your sim rig.

After buying the Thrustmaster TMX and a racing stand to start out, I just wanted to see if I liked them (as it had been 25 years since I owned a wheel) I was so impressed with Force Feedback and the Quality of the Wheel that I decided to upgrade to the better pedal set and this shifter. It was worth the additional expense on both counts. Once I stiffened up the shifters resistance it feels as close to a real car as I think you'll ever get. It's accurate and after already putting probably 50 hours on the shifter, it doesn't seem like it's going to wear anytime soon. It may be pricey, but you most likely won't have to buy another one for a long time, if ever.

This is a solid addition to any racing sim. I feel it balances the features to price ratio just right. Below it is the Logitech shifter that feels more like a toy and doesn't have the ability to shift from H-pattern to sequential (granted it's a little tedious removing the cover plate, and above it you have offerings from Fanatec that while doing everything this does better is usually only found at double the price (unless used or you get lucky). The desk clamp works well enough but I only used it for a few days before I hard mounted it to a racing seat. Can interface with either a Thrustmaster wheel or via usb for standalone operation. Don't much care for the location of the connection to the Thrustmaster as the cable is a bit short to adequately route on my right hand mount in my right side entry rig leading me to having accidentally unplugged it trying to get in and out. Have used it in Forza (PC) and Grand Turismo (PS4) with no problems thus far. There are plenty of mods available to adjust the feel and throw and aftermarket gated shifter plates to suit a preference and I may add the tension increase one as it feels a little loose to me but it's definitely not a deal breaker. I highly recommend for anyone wishing to up their sim experience.

I received the shifter in new condition and within a reasonable time. It works great and makes my video game racing experience more exciting and fun. Great device.

I have a racing simulator and run iRacing from my gaming laptop but my HDMI cables were too short to get the laptop in the right position so that I can access it while in the simulator.
