This is a review for the Epson RapidReceipt RR-400W Wireless scanner that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review. That said, I am very impressed with this little scanner after using it for the past week. It is so heavily featured that it takes a 254 page operators manual to explain everything it can perform, and that 254 page manual is heavily pictured, a necessity with such a heavily featured device. I am impressed. Right out of the very descriptive box (a cornucopia of information itself), it connected to our network without any involvement by me. And has done so every time I start it up. How it does that without knowing the network key is a little baffling, but it works. Installation of the software and drivers was slick, a little time consuming, and very accurate once finished. The scanning speed, compared to several other scanners I have owned, is extremely fast. Receipts literally flash thru the scanner at a speed I have never seen in such a device. Intentionally putting in a standard long narrow receipt without any support from the guides (done on purposes) resulted in a perfect image with complete clarity and 99% data accuracy. I watched the receipt go thru the scanner with a visible skew, but the image was perfectly straight, great time saver not having to rescan when I mess up. Images are presented quickly, no apparent lag at all, and the data reading capability of the scanner is excellent. It did miss the last 4 digits of the credit card number, mistakenly picking up the document reference number that was preceded by to **, probably the reason for the mistake. Transferring the data to a spreadsheet via the CSV format was perfect, saves a ton of time. No matter what I put the little tike thru, it came out exactly as I would want it to come out. Really very impressed compared to two other receipt type scanners I have used over the years, this one is more accurate, much quicker, and 1/2 the size with twice the features. Highly recommended.

This review is of the Epson WorkForce ES-300WR Accounting Edition document scanner. There are several things about this printer that I think make it stand out. First, the footprint of this scanner is great - for a small office or home use, it can sit on the desk, conveniently located but not be in the way. Secondly, I love the "no wires" option. While most of the time I use it while it's plugged in, if I'm working in another room and need to bring it with me I just pull the cord out of the back and pick it up. The fact that it connects to my wireless so that I don't have yet another cord coming out of my laptop or dock is really nice. Lastly, the "accounting edition" software works amazingly well. It scans the receipt and pre-populates fields regarding that receipt allowing me to categorize and sort things how I want. That's not to say it doesn't have issues - since it recognizes text, I don't know why it can't auto rotate the scan if a receipt is put it upside down, instead it still tries to pre-populate the accounting fields and it does a very poor job in that case. It is well made and doesn't seem flimsy. I have a little trouble opening it up with the latch they provide. I occasionally have issues with receipts not feeding thru correctly and crinkling inside the machine. It happened a couple of times at the very beginning of my testing out the device and was very frustrating since the receipts it did it on seemed clean, flat and not expected to get stuck. Since then it has worked pretty well although it still jams occasionally. At this point I've scanned in about 40 receipts as well as many full-size documents. Overall, I recommend this product as a nice daily use receipt scanner. I've had this scanner for two weeks and it is the Absolute Best Scanner I've ever had!! I love everything about it! Coupled with Epson ScanSmart Accounting Edition really puts it over the top!
