I have a Canon HF S10 and could not live without this charger. It is a real pain to have to charge your batteries through your camera. I love this accessory but wish it either came with the camera or was offered at a cheaper price. Seems like a lot of money for something that is so necessary.

This charger allows you to charge the battery by itself, freeing up the camera for the more important work of capturing video.
