Having owned many scanners over the years, this rates the best. The quality of scans is excellent. Best though is the document feeder, which gets the job done reliably and flexibly. 5 |

I, like many of us, have a ton of photos from 1950s (parents time) till almost late 80s and needed a simple to use, high speed and smart photo scanner. Was tired of 1 picture at a time scanners that do not work with OSX and general purpose scanners that are dumb when it comes to high volume photo scanning. I finally have my problem resolved with the FF-680W. what I love is that it can handle paper scanning A4, B*, Legal and a ton of other sizes gracefully. Helps me get rid of a whole filing cabinet of files. Great job Epson. Love you guys for this product. This is now part of my dream home office set up. Sits pretty with the small foot print and is available on demand working on USB and wireless .... great product. glad I bought it.... 5 |

I'm using the stand for archiving old books, photos etc that are unsuitable for flat bed scanners. Working with a tethered Canon G9, but the stand will work well with prosumer SLRs. I light the subject with 2 anglepoise desk lights from an office supplies store - better value than Kaiser lighting units. I like the solid construction, hand crank height control and adjustable distance from column. Square grid on base board assists subject alignment. Like all other copy stands in this price range, care is needed to point the camera perpendicular, if you mind about avoiding geometric distortion. A hotshoe-mounted bubble level and/or a small mirror placed facing the camera lens solve this issue. 5 |

I've used scanners for over 20 years. This scanner is the best for scanning photos by far. It's faster than I expected, auto crops and deskews, and the interface is user friendly and easy to organize albums. The resolution is perfect for archiving photos. I haven't used the Quick Fix function yet, because I'm a graphic designer, but I'm thinking it's probably going to save a lot of time. The actual scanning part saved me so much time, that I probably got my money's worth after it's first use. You have to plug it into a computer. Would be cool if it was wireless. Also, it's not plug and play. You have to either download the drivers (which were EASY to find if you follow the EASY instructions) or install the driver using the DVD provided. I wish it had a cover for the input area to protect from dust. It seems a little bulky, but that lends to its sturdiness. You have to feed images one by one, but I like that because it gives me a chance to pay attention to what I'm scanning (old photos that deserve to be looked at.) I'm hoping it will last a good long time, because I have a ton of photos to scan. Great purchase. 5 |

I've scanned about 300 photos now, in three sessions. I've owned scanners for about 20 years, with my photo scanners being flatbed. One document scanner that feeds similar to this one. This is hands down the best photo scanner I've ever owned. Fast and reliable. I really like the Epson FastFoto Software. Clean copies, often color corrected and I especially like how it prompts you at the beginning for a descriptive name to use for the folder in which it stores batches of scans.VERY helpful. 5 |

This is my first purchase of a scanner specifically for photos and I wanted to get one that would also do 35mm slides. I researched scanners online and decided on this one and I'm glad I did. It does an excellent job of scanning multiple photos at one time and up to 4 slides at one time. The quality is outstanding and I love the software that comes with it. 5 |

I was familiar with Epson flatbed scanners from using them at the newspaper I work at, so I kind of knew what to expect. This is a newer version than any we have at work, though, and it is better than what I've used before. I've used it thus far to scan a couple hundred old family photos for a digital projected image show at the funeral of a close relative. Everyone was in awe of the great, sharp, and colorful images of 50-year-old photos. I use it with a MacBook Pro equipped with Photoshop. Also have scanned dozens Kodachrome slides. It did a great job. Use of the slide holder made the effort easy. I anticipate using it in this capacity hundreds of more times as I develop digital projection shows for groups in my hobby from among the thousands of slides I have taken in the past 22 years. 5 |
