I've been using a Vello transmitter & 2 receivers for a while with great success. About to open a studio. I have 2 bodies & 5 flash so I ordered 3 more receivers and another transmitter so I could set up all 5 flashes & have a transmitter on both bodies so I won't have to swap lenses or move lights. They work great! The strength of the signal is great, they fire from separate rooms, different floors, even through walls. Not TTL, but I prefer to shoot everything manual so not an issue for me. I set the 5 receivers on a different channel, 1 through 5, that way I can see what each light does separately. Once I have them as I like them, just switch the transmitter to "all channels" and they all fire for the shot.

I unpacked the receivers and was able to get it to fire my 430EX and my Smith Victor Strobes. I own a Canon 20D and a Pentax 1st*D I was able to trigger my Canon 430Ex and my Smith Victor Strobes with a little tinkering. That was a concern weather I could use the triggers with any camera and flash units I had.

The PocketWizard has a simple function to perform: receivers fire remote flashes that have a 1/8 mini phone port when triggered by a transmitter mounted on a hot shoe with a center pin signal. PocketWizards perform this function reliably and self configure as a receiver or transmitter. I use them with a Nikon D810 body and LumaPro LP180 flashes: a simple, manual, non-TTL approach to strobe lighting. Don't forget to bring extra batteries when you use them. Same for the flashes. Battery usage is not alarmingly high but batteries seem to die at the worst possible moment.

Use these for running lavs receivers into a mixer/recorder. No problems, but you have to be aware that it doesnt work for some devices depending on mono/stereo issues. For example this doesnt work to run a Sennheiser G4 RX unit into a single XLR input- that requires a stereo mini to split XLR channels.

Perfect replacement chord for some stereo receivers; in my case an RS 700 Yamaha receiver. Also works for some Fender guitar amplifiers. Did the job perfectly.
