Best Waterproof Snapshot Camera

Turns my Z6 II into a lightweight all purpose snapshot camera easy to carry for family events.

I was looking specifically for a snapshot camera for my pocket when I travel. I got tired of lugging my big DSLR around, and it was getting obsolete anyway. But my cell phone camera wasn't good enough, so the FZ55 was the perfect camera for my needs and wants, and it was only $99! And besides, blue was a fun color.

We typically travel with a DSLR, a mirrorless 4K video camera, and one or two snapshot-type fixed lens cameras. Naturally, all take different batteries. With the Watson system (and it is a system) we only need one charger body (multi-voltage for international travel) and a small, thin adapter plate for each battery. Really cuts down on what you need to carry.

My new rule is that I don’t even look at reviews without an image attached. One attached snapshot right out camera, one over processed with blown highlights. (Xt1) With that said... Really an impressive lens. Small, light, fun focal length, tack sharp, instant af. Weather sealing is important to me living in the tropics. build quality is great. Can’t say how much of the optical performance is due to software correction but don’t really care. no regrets.

This is a crossover from a snapshot to camera which can take any Nikon lens, with the adaptor. I love it’s small size, like a snapshot camera. It has many of the options for ‘scenes’ that the snapshots have and larger cameras don’t include. The Pop scene has a lot of creative applications. The Macro scene allows you to get a little bit closer into your subject, though not quite as close as a macro lens. A macro can do 1:1, this one is more like 1:4. It can do very rapid multiple exposures, which is very handy for sports, 11 fps in Continuous High Plus mode. It also has a focus tracking feature. Lock onto something and it will track that and keep the focus on that spot as long as it is in the frame, handy with sports. It has both a mechanical shutter and electronic shutter which I like. The controls and menus are very similar to all other Nikons, which is great for me since I have all Nikon equipment and can very easily move from one camera to the next with ease. The kit lens isn’t fast at all, similar to snapshot cameras, but the pancake lens is very compact. In the image above the lens is extended for shooting. When done shooting you can retract the lens a bit to make it a bit more ‘pocket-sized.’ I like the larger grip, I don’t use the viewfinder much, but with sports photography it helps me keep on the action better than the back screen. And most of all I like that ALL my Nikon lenses will work with the adapter.

Best all around waterproof flashlight, different light intensity, the side led light bars can really light up an area. Then a red safety led bar that can flash or steady red light.

Best cases around, durable, waterproof, solid, beautiful. Everything should be in a pelican case, I think I might start carrying my lunch in one. If you get one with foam, just plan ahead before you start tearing it out or you'll end up with an ugly less functioning inside.
