I got this dream machine to replace a DD-WRT router once I realized that DD-WRT doesn't allow for gigabit WAN speeds. I also wanted better WiFi coverage upstairs. I bought a second nanoHD access point (not received yet) to install on the ceiling upstairs. It should seamlessly add to my UniFi setup and give me 5GHz speeds throughout the house. Whenever WiFi 6 becomes more widely available and I start getting client devices that support it, I expect Ubiquiti to sell WiFi 6 access points that I can then use with this dream machine. Be warned, though: the UniFi software is still buggy, with many features labeled beta. I had trouble with the beta feature High Performance Devices, as my Sunpower monitor in the garage could not establish a link because it was forced to use 5GHz by the dream machine. Once I turned that feature off, it connected with 2.4Ghz and has worked perfectly since.

Ive used the following Unifi APs: * UAP-AC-LR * UAP-AC-Lite * UAP-AC-Pro * UAP-AC-NanoHD They each fit their own role incredibly well and the answer for which of those APs is best completely depends on the deployment.   Best for mobile devices or covering large indoor areas with as few APs as possible?  LR Best bang for buck all around AP? LR Best cheap AC WiFi?  Lite Best for higher user count per AP or dusty / wet environments? Pro And now we have the NanoHD which easily takes the cake for the question, Whats the best AP I can get for the money that will give me the best 5Ghz performance?  NanoHD!! This AP maxes out the 250Mbps symmetrical internet connection at the site I deployed it at even through two drywall layers.  Within same room it easily holds 850Mbps on multiple devices at once.  I was most impressed by how much better 5Ghz range this WAP has than any other 5Ghz AP Ive ever used.   Ill still steer people to the AC-LR for general purpose use but if you need performant connections at reasonable distances this is the hands down winner.  The fact that its Wave2 capable means a very good long term value proposition as more devices get that capability.
