Best Wireless Router To Replace Airport Extreme

This Synology router replaced an Apple AirPort Extreme and so far I am very pleased with the router. Love the Synology control panel and am already familiar with it considering my Synology Disk Station also uses the same control panel so it wasn't much of a learning curve. This router is an excellent addition to the existing Synology products in my home.

I replaced an Apple Airport Extreme router with this unit from Synology. I expected it to be easy to set up, and it was even easier than I'd hoped. The ease with which you can get information and make changes through the computer browser interface or the app is unparalleled. I even have an older laser printer that's attached via USB to this router, and even that was easy to set up and works great.

I purchased this as a replacement for my first generation Apple AirPort Extreme that had a failing fan. I did not need wireless in a router because my current home setup already has an independent solution. My only concern was speed. I have several test routers and none of them could deliver the maximum bandwidth that my ISP provides. After running the extremely easy setup it was obvious that speed was not an issue with this router. Even with traffic analysis enabled there is no speed, ram, or cpu issues. Best router for the money on the market.

When Apple discontinued the Airport Extreme I began looking for a replacement. I bought the RT2600ac earlier this year partially because of the announced mesh router solution (MR2200ac), partially because I already have other Synology equipment and partially because of the excellent Synology support. The two MR2200ac units arrived this week and work perfectly. Completely eliminated my historically weak signal areas due to shape and construction of house. Ive tracked device connections as I walked through the house and yard and the handoff between router points is seamless. Extremely pleased

Upgrading from a 4th generation Apple AirPort Extreme to this RT2600AC was a breeze! I have a DS415+ NAS as well so it made sense to keep everything Synology and I'm so happy I did! I went from ~70Mbps to over 110Mbps just by upgrading the router!! Granted, I'm paying for 100Mbps FiOS, so you can tell that the router has DEFINITELY made a huge impact. Plus, I get a FULL signal where I had NO signal. Game-changer right there!

For years I have been a loyal Apple product owner. However, after only 2-3 years of use, I have been frequently restarting my Apple Airport Extreme - according to tech bloggers it means the device is dying. After doing some research that Apple has discontinued production of the Airport Extreme, I decided to look elsewhere. I chose the Synology AC2600 WIFI router based on the honest reviews on the BH website as well as other computer review sites. The RT2600AC ain't pretty to look at, but it is a performance monster. I installed it in the same place (basement) as my old Apple Airport Extreme, and the AC2600 has twice the range and twice the speed using the same Comcast SB6190 cable router. Plus, I have attached an external hard drive to use as a time machine backup. I am very pleased with this product.

Was looking for something to replace my AirPort Extreme, simple to set up and straight forward user interface. Would recommend for sure.

Replaced my Airport base station and got far better wireless coverage in my house. �The amazing part, though, is that the thing offers a server architecture rather like the Synology NAS products. �I'm running a VPN right in my router! � This is much harder to configure than an Apple router, so if you want just great simple wireless get something like Eero. �For power, flexibility, and control, get this.

Gigabit connection at an extremely low price. Using it with my Airport extreme and works flawlessly.
