I bought the black one because I don't like dealing with extraneous reflections that can occur with chrome. This black boom arm works smooth and is easily adjustable (lengthened, shortened, rotated, balanced, etc...). It mounts to the stud on the top of the stand (which is the most practical and sensible location). I also like the pivot mechanism of this boom. I is a CNC machined aluminum plate that pivots on a shoulder bolt directly over the light stand stud (again, best place for the fulcrum). The boss of the pivot plate is CNC rough milled to allow for better gripping action of the ratcheting pivot clamp handle. Overally I would say this is good deal. Buy with confidence. I am not a paid spokes person, I am a hard working photographer. 5 |

This seems like a very well made boom for the price. I had the older black version before with the plastic pivot clamp which broke. I think this one will hold up better as its chrome plated. It is heavy but I think that's the trade of for durability. 5 |
