Black Lion has done it again by making a great little preamp. I've owned Black Lion's more expensive 4-channel B173 preamp before, but I like this Auteur MKIII even more than that one because it's simpler to use and sounds just as great. Its black color and wonderful design is great to look at, too -- very beautiful. I'm very happy with this purchase. 5 |

Black Lion did a great job on the PG-2. We have been having some weather down here in Florida. Record numbers of lightning strikes and I couldn't feel more secure knowing my gear is plugged in to this guy. I don't find the power button to be too loose. It's small, and I can't imagine hitting it accidentally. I especially like the pairs of outlets broken up into Digital, Analog, and High Current. My only wish list items would be a pair of USB-C charging ports on the front instead of USB-A. But its all good. maybe on the next round. Great job BLA! 5 |

I found a USB interface shootout online, and listened to the recorded samples for multiple units. I really liked the sound of this SSL and had heard good things about the Black Lion Audio Revolution, so I ordered them both to compare. I ended up preferring the sound of the SSL. The Black Lion sounded oversaturated to me while the SSL was more my style: an honest sound, without being clinical. I like it without the 4k setting, but that's a nice option to have, and the RCA outputs are actually perfect for my amp/monitor setup. The pre-amp gain is clean, though I add a Cloudlifter between my sE ribbon mic and the interface. My Senn mics sounded great through the SSL too. Finally, I love that there are two headphone outs! Would recommend this interface, it's a great value. 5 |
