Great capture card from Blackmagic. I use three camera's (Canon XA40) for live streaming and this card works flawlessly.

USE: We run a couple of these cameras in our small (100 ppl) church. The cameras are running via USB (~50ft cable runs) with a USB splitter, and our congregation has been very pleased with the quality of the image for live-streaming. We pre-program scenes for each camera in OBS studio and use our presentation software to trigger MIDI signals which translate to key presses in OBS studio to control which scene/camera is shown, making it extremely operator-friendly. We installed the first of these cameras in 2020 for live-streaming services during the COVID shutdowns and it has worked great for more than a year. Because the automatic settings on the camera are perfect for the sanctuary environment and the pre-programming of our system is already set up, it takes less than 30 minutes to add in an additional camera to expand the system. As the title of this review says, the cameras work so well that we bought another. And we may continue to add more in the future as our church keeps growing.

At $499, the Rebel SL3 is the lowest cost camera that can webstream with a large sensor. Here are some of the advantages: 1. It can webstream directly to the computer without a HDMI adapter. All you need is a USB cable and the free Canon software. 2. With a battery, and without using the screen, I can stream over 3 hours without stopping. For most streaming events, this means one does not need to use an external power source. 3. It has a clean output vis USB. 4. At the same time, the flip out touch screen allows one to get all the camera data and make adjustments during streaming. 5. Eye focus is extremely quick and precise during video streaming. This is rare as many more expensive cameras do not do eye focusing during streaming, including most of the Sony full frames at $2K and up. 6. An ideal lens to match with this is the superb Sigma 18-35mm f1.8. This is a zoom lens that provides a blurred background like a prime lens and yet provides the capability to zoom. There's not another camera in this price range that can do 1-5 above.

This is what you need to get your camera with HDMI into your computer for streaming. I also ordered an IOGEAR HDMI to USB Type-C Video Capture Adapter (BH #IOGUV301 $99.95) and they are functionally identical and also in form. The only difference is the writing on the outside. My mac mini sees both at the same time and they feed OBS together as discreet sources. This is not a high-end Blackmagic or Matrox box, but I have no complaint for the streaming I'm doing.

It does the job with my Blackmagic. I would not use any third party in my camera.

Slowly upgrading our church's AV setup and live streaming. Blackmagic devices have made the process easier. Good products and good support. B&H makes the buying process easy. Website easy to navigate. Prices fair and ordering is simple.

I use these cables in a 4u portable live streaming rack for my BlackMagic ATEM HD Studio. The thin cables help with the airflow in such a confined space and picture quality is perfect with no artifacts or delay in video.

My use case for this is streaming Wii gameplay (after converting composite to HDMI of course). Audio and visual comes through perfectly. Make sure to download the Blackmagic Desktop Video Setup tool from the Blackmagic website. It lets you configure which input to use, between SDI or HDMI, and it also tells you what resolution and fps it’s seeing. This tool will be important if you intend to use the recorder for HDMI since it defaults to SDI. I also have the Elgato 4K X capture card, and it works for many situations, but this Blackmagic Recorder is certainly more reliable and industrial in quality. If you’re split between Elgato and Blackmagic, definitely pick this one. I haven’t used this for capturing SDI, so I can’t speak to its performance, but it’s likely perfect as well.

I've relied on Blackmagic products for my video live-streaming for many years. They always work, and their product support is exceptional.
