Blackmagic Cinema Camera Mft Crop Factor

I bought this for my blackmagic pocket cinema camera. Without this adapter, that camera wouldn't have been my first choice due to the crop factor. Not only does the adapter reduce the crop factor, but it also helps my lenses out in low light shoots! Simply awesome!

Everybody using an MFT camera for filmmaking (especially those with the Blackmagic Pocket 4K), should have a set of Cinema Prime lenses. Zooms are for the 'Instagram Generation.' If you are going to make narratives you need a firm grasp of film grammar. Prime lenses are the fundamentals of film grammar. For a while Veydra had the high ground on MFT primes, but they have left this earth, never to return. Now Meike has stepped up with their set of Cinema Prime Lenses. They are actually really good, and the prices are incredibly low for the build quality and image sharpness. The 12mm Prime is an excellent lens - it is in the medium focal length range with an MFT camera. It works very well with my Blackmagic 4K camera. I plan on acquiring a full set soon.

This is definitely a must have if you own a pocket cinema camera. Reduced crop factor and increased light transmission can't beat it. The image is beautiful and the build is rugged. Definitely worth the purchase.

We used this case to house the Blackmagic Cinema Camera with a View Factor cage & battery mount, 16mm rods, and the Redrock Mattebox & Follow Focus. It's a VERY tight fit but, works great. There's enough room for accessories but PLEASE NOTE: because of the size of the Redrock Mattebox your camera will basically be centered in the case; any accessories will have to fall in around it.

I am currently using the GH3, and since the new MFT mirrorless had a crop factor of x2 (and I can say, it is slightly more cropped than that) I needed a wide angle lens for those tight shots. Rokinon (or also known as Samyang, Bower) was a great lens I had experience with in the past. The 35mm was a great prime lens for my previous Canon DSLR. So I knew the Samyang line were the way to go. 7.5mm Ultra-Wide Angle would seem like an extreme choice, but for the MFT with a slightly tighter crop factor of the GH3 would make it a great wide-angle lens.

These lenses are excellent for any MFT mount. Because of the crop factor, this is essentially a 35mm. There's nearly no edge bending (which there is on the 10.5mm Nokton) and it gives you a great frame. Also, you can't beat the depth-of-field of an f.95. I have two of these, and I won't stop until I have all of them in my kit.

I am using it on the bmpcc. It's focal length range is great for the crop factor of the Blackmagic Pocket when on the move. The build is great, given the crop factor the usual foibles of edge effects are less visible across this sensor. It's light enough weight and small enough that the camera and lens together are the picture of portability for top quality video. It is also less intimidating in the public.
