Blink Outdoor Camera Video Storage

I bought this to use on my Blink security camera base unit. It is a perfect fit for my needs.

I bought this after my full-frame Sony went on the blink. Grandkids were coming and I needed a camera fast but, thinking my 'good' camera could be repaired, decided I didn't want to spend a lot of money on an interim replacement. After a couple of weeks of shooting I've come to love it. It's light, fast, colors are true and the dynamic range is very good for a camera at this price point. I've paired it with a Sigma 56mm 1.4 Art Lens and a Tamron 15-200mm zoom and am getting great photos.

As an professional outdoor video photographer we typically use Canon XH-A1's, but we needed a camera to use in those instances when a second camera is needed on a project. The other application would be for those rare instances when a dedicated cameraman is unavailable. The Touch & Track feature is desirable for those less than wide open filming situations when maual focus is required but not possible to utilize in a self-filming situation. The lack of an XLR imput is not particularlly problematic in those situations that we need to employ the camera and is, most likely, a non-factor for the typical end user. The solid state media is convenient and helps to reduce our costs. let's face it, this is a consumer product. Overall, I would say that this camera delivers a tremendous value for the money....If you don't like the features and performance, you probably need to increase the amount of funds you are willing to allocate for a camera, and realize that you need to purchace the next level up.

I bought this to start doing some outdoor video work with my R10 camera. I wanted to not only be able to attach a microphone but have a little protection for the camera. The fit on the camera is perfect and it even comes with the tool to take it on and off which conveniently stores intself in the cage. The only thing negative that I noticed about the cage is getting the memory card in and out is a little bit more difficult. Its a minor issue but you have to fenagle with it a little to get it out or remove the battery. Great fit, looks cool and works for my application.

I'm using this for outdoor video to shade the sun from the camera screen. The eye piece changes enough for my prescription glasses, so I see the screen better than with glasses alone, obviously I could use new glasses. There is slight distortion at the edges but it's not a deal breaker for me.
