Blink Outdoor Wireless Camera Reviews

The Saramonic Blink 500 ProX B2 2-Person Digital Camera-Mount Wireless Omni Lavalier Microphone System (Black, 2.4 GHz) offers pro quality sound at a great price.

I had been shopping around for a wireless option to assist in creating content for my virtual photo classes. I was originally looking at the Rode GO which seemed pretty straight forward and easy to use, but then I came across the Saramonic Blink 500. The comparisons of the two options were pretty close, but I went with the Blink 500 because I got more bang for the buck! Having two mics with two lavaliers was a big selling point for me, as I now have the ability to mic my assistant or subject. I also did not have to purchase any additional cords to connect to my iPhone or laptop as everything I needed was right in the box. Using it with the iPhone is significantly bulkier than the Saramonic Lightning receiver option, but I like knowing I have the ability to expand upon this system in the future. I have used the Blink 500 directly on various Canon and Sony cameras, my iPhone, and my MacBook Pro all with clear audio results. This was a fantastic purchase for my needs.

I bought this product to supplement other Saramonic Blink 500 wireless systems I've been using for at least the past year. This is really an excellent system that has never let me down. The Blink 500 system gives you the best bang for the buck!

I've had this camera for about a year now and have used it for outdoor photography on climbing and skiing trips where I need something that fits in my pocket. I'm not super camera savvy and so I find that 99% of the time, auto-shooting mode combined with some light Adobe Lightroom post-processing produces exactly the kind of images I'm after. All the 1-star reviews have to do with it's lack of WiFi connectivity. This has nothing to do with the quality of the images produced so these reviews are stupid; I use a card reader and have had no issues. WiFi connectivity with my Mac does indeed not work, but with my iPhone it is seamless when the Canon app is downloaded. I prefer using the card reader anyway.

I needed to connect an outdoor wireless security camera to Wifi but the signal on the main router wasn't strong enough to penetrate a thick masonry wall. The TP-link solved this problem. I set it up inside at the wall needing signal penetration but in line with the router. It worked perfectly - having a booster closer to the camera did the trick.

The wireless 2K outdoor camera performance great in my installation. Very good night vision and smooth panning of movement in its field of view. I have added additional cameras around my home due to the performance of this model and I am very happy I did.

I normally don’t make reviews, but I thought someone should come in and defend the honor of this gadget after a couple less-than-stellar reviews. For a DSLR/Mirrorless shooter, this thing is a must-have. It’s just a supremely handy thing to have in your bag when you need it. When I’m shooting for the big screen, or need isolated audio tracks or phantom power, I’ll pull out my MixPre. But for simple web videos when that’s overkill (whether interview or run-n-gun b-roll), this thing’s great when you want to get 2 audio sources into the 3.5mm input on your camera. Obviously, there’s no pre-amps or phantom power, so I tend to only use with sources that have their own built-in preamps (like wireless mic receivers or a Røde videomic pro). I can lav up two subjects with my Sennheiser wireless mics and record each subject to a separate channel on my camera (on on the left, one on the right), which is amazing flexibility to have. Or I can run a wireless lav into one channel and my Røde Videomic Pro into the other and have that great lav/shotgun flexibility. All in all, can’t say enough good things about this device. Dollar-for-dollar, no device expands the audio capabilities of a DSLR/Mirrorless camera like this thing does. Just make sure you set your expectations right. And that means plugging in devices that boost their own signal.
