Block Traffic Between Ports On Netgear Wireless Router

Bought this one to use as a router/switch in my home network replacing a Netgear Nighthawk model. It's night and day in terms of resources and capabilities, from setting up VLANs and security measures as well as monitoring traffic in my home network and identifying which device is connecting to what and amount of traffic. Tech support is also great and I got a reply the same day I wrote to them with some questions. I'll very likely use Ubiquiti's Protect and cameras when installing this system around my house.

I have been looking to replace my wireless gateway from Comcast for a while now. Recently some new products such as the Google Home caught my attention since they had multiple access points that are placed around your house. This setup has been used in enterprise for years. The only downfall which made me stay away was the lack of customization and advanced features. Using the Synology Router has been like no other. The user interface is the best I have every used, there are so many features and add-ons, I have yet to use them all. Some key points of the router is the 802.11ac antennas, they also operate at a newer channel so currently I am the only one in my apartment complex to be on this channel. The add-ons that are built into the router are pretty useful, my favorite is intrustion prevention since it will monitor network traffic and alert and or block traffic is reconginizes as being harmful. Overal I love this router, many of the issues I had with the range and connectivity on my old gateway have been resolved with this new router. I will continue to purchase their routers in the future. #sweepstakes

There I was in Manhattan ( I no longer live there...) needing to pick up this little cable... My main camera stopped working.. but I had a back up Nikon .. with this adapter I could use my Nexus as a monitor and have the client review live what I was shooting.. ( Low budget Hi maintenance kind of guy..) As we drove North and were three blocks from the store, I told my Art Director to meet me three blocks ahead.. I run to BH, run upstairs, five minutes before closing time. Friendly sales team. Knew exactly what I was talking about when I said.. OTG .. I was out out the place within 10 minutes and my ride was still stuck on traffic a block away.. I literally did the whole production while they advanced two block on NYC traffic.. Shoot looks great . Upon doing a lot of research between other cable modem/router combos, I finally decided the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 was the best selection to fit my needs. I live in a home that is 1850 square ft and the wireless coverage reaches in all areas of the entire house with no problem as I performed multiple speed tests and the results were very consistent throughout. The setup through the router setup management interface was seamless and very user friendly. I was able to set up my 2.4Ghz, 5 GHz, and guest wireless networks in 3 minutes. I also like the fact that you can set parental controls to manage usage time and block inappropriate websites. The Netgear ReadyShare Vault is extremely handy for me so that I can share movies, pictures, and files across the network. Overall, I would highly recommend this product!

Purchased after having difficult experience with the Netgear Orbi. This Synology Wireless Tri-Band Mesh Router coupled with the Synology RT2600 AC Wireless Dual Band Gigabit Router serve as the backbone for my 1.3k sqft apartment and I've experience no drops with higher throughput (compared to the Netgear Orbi). Great products, highly recommend.

This Netgear Modem is great. I did a speed test and hit 890Mbps which is insane! One thing to know is that it is non wireless. You will need a router if you have more than 1 wireless device. It was worth every penny though. I recommend getting a router anyway, it will improve a lot. Ditch your company rent boxes and get this!

I replace my Cox cable modem and wireless router with Netgear. The signal strength throughout my 2200 sqft house is great. I can even connect my outdoor TV to the internet now. I get the same speed on wireless as I do with the computer plugged into the internet. Great products.

This router is such a great replacement to the old Netgear router we had.

Used this actually as a wireless extender to existing router that needed some hard wired ports that were in a place that running cables back to existing router were not really feasible. Easy setup, fast and working great.
