Blu Ray Disk Drive For Laptop

This is 16x blu-ray drive from LG compatible with M-DISC disk. This is OEM version. So, it is barebone drive. No software included but it is plug-n-play with Windows 10. This drive is pretty quiet during operation.

Fantastic Blu-ray!

We had an old blu-ray player that no longer could play the latest Blu-Ray discs or even new DVDs. This player does it all very well. We have other pay-for-view providers that look better after installing this player. We also find that it is faster when reacting to remote button pushes. There is little to no lag in sending/receiving commands. Our system has a seven channel surround system and the sound from this player is wonderful. It also make a big difference when playing CDs when we use it for a music player. This player is not inexpensive, but at this point has been worth every cent we spent on it. The people at B&H also got it to us with standard shipping in three days. If you are looking to purchase a new Blu-Ray player, this would be the one to purchase.

When I went with a new laptop for video editing that did not have a DVD, Blu-Ray burner installed. I checked out B&H's website. I knew that I did not want the flat, small, plastic external burners I already owned and did not like. The Mercury Pro is built like a tank. I like the fact that in order to load a disc, you must access a draw, drop the DVD in the holder, not snap the DVD on to a center piece. In the short time I have used the Mercury, I've successfully burned 10 Blu Ray discs.

I bought this flash drive to back up large files from my computer and to watch media files on a blu ray player. I transferred an entire 140 gb file from my computer to the drive, USING A 2.0 USB PORT, in 1 hour and 9 minutes! Imagine how fast it would have been with a 3.0 port!

Plug and play, no problems. I have always had good luck with Asus products. So far I copied my document and photo files onto double layer blu ray discs and burned a tv movie that was recorded on my hard drive to a blu ray which came out perfect. One odd thing, the enclosed software would not install, I ended up buying version 13 versus the enclosed version 8 of recording software that was included with the drive. No trouble at all with version 13, I have a feeling it had something to do with the changes in the latest Windows 10 version that the version 8 didn't like. Even with that little drawback, I'm very happy with the performance of this drive, just expect to buy some burning software if you are using the latest Windows 10 version.

This is the best external blu-ray drive I have ever owned. I have had 2 others and they pale in comparison to this unit. The asus unit is fast and powerful!

Had problems finding a Blu-ray drive that worked on an M2 MacBook Pro. My first one I bought didn't work and I spent an hour in on-line chat with B&H support. They seamlessly organized a return in exchange for this one. Excellent support from B&H. This one works great! Keep in mind that Blu-ray is not native to MacOS so you'll have to purchase Blu-ray player software. Also note that 4K Ultra HD software on MacOS cost a small fortune, so I suggest buying only regular Blu-ray disks.
