I always wanted a blue ray DVD and a Sony is what I wanted and I am Happy with it!!!!

I waited almost 5 months to take delivery of this 4K Blu-ray player and I havent been disappointed. I am adimittedly partial to the brand having bought my first blu-ray players from Panasonic in 2008 (and both of those players are still functioning the same way they were 10 years ago. and I own over 500 blu-rays so its safe to say they see quite a bit of use). This Panasonic DP-UB820 is currently paired with my 4K projector and its impressive. I believe its the only currently player that supports every flavour of HDR available HDR10+, Dolby Vision, HLG as well as old HDR10. The playback from this UHD blu ray player is astounding, obviously physical disc are for those of us who care about image quality and seeing the films as close to the way the film makers intended as possible (not after it has been compressed to fit down a narrow streaming pipeline) Overall I;m incredibly impressed with this player, now the real test of quality will be if I can get 10 years out of it like my other Panasonic Blu-Ray players.

I have been using (I thought) high end 4K UHD Blu-ray players for a few years, but I got frustrated by my Sony constantly freezing when it switched layers. This machine plays discs that froze on the Sony perfectly. It's video upscaling and HDR enhancements are quite obvious. One thing to keep in mind: setting up the video, make sure you choose 4.4.4 output, so you get what you are paying for. And on the audio, set the outputs to bitstream to fully send all of the channels to your AV receiver to decode. I am glad I bought it.

I own a few of these Sony Smart Bu-ray/DVD players and am always happy with the way they operate. That's why I continue to buy them for each TV.

With the manufacturer OPPO exiting the top-tier blu-ray players being offered, this was the only alternative for me. I'm only playing back 1080p on my projector(for the time being), but the picture is pristine! An added bonus is the crystalline audio. I'm hearing subtleties in movie soundtracks that I never picked-up with my Oppo player. It's heft reminds one of the early VHS machines. One of my stellar investments from B&H!

Compared to my other Sony Blu-ray players, this one's picture is crystal clear. It is like watching 4K with 1080 resolution. You can hear and see the difference, soo much better. I planned on buying a 4K TV next year to go with this 4K Blu-ray player and now I cannot wait.

Verbatim discs are the BEST discs to buy with the best compatibility with blu-ray players and anything else it is meant to play back on. Plus, you can PRINT on the disc and is printable to the hub. Isn't it worth it to spend a little extra money to not have any worries and have a dual layered blu-ray disc?
