Bluetooth Access Point With Usb Print Server

Have seen and heard/read about Ubiquiti products for years and finally made a plunge to replace my aging/ancient home network components consisted of dd-wrt flashed access points and a switch with dying ports. Ended up purchasing a) USW Flex Mini 5-Port Gigabit Managed Switch, b) U6 Pro Access Point and c) U6 Access Point in the end. They’ve been up and running with no issues for about a month now. I have pfSense running as my router, DHCP server, and f/w and they’re working together with no issues. The new Unifi components along with Unifi controller/network server (free download with no subscription charge and i’m running it locally) provide a truly “unified” view and current status of my network, which I didn’t have before. Since all of my access points are wired, I cannot speak for their mesh capability. I’m happy with purchase and hoping to add another access point (in-wall version this time) soon. As always, shipping from B&H was fast.

I paired mine with an Ubiquiti wireless access point for a complete home networking solution. The EdgeRouter X even provides PoE pass through to power my access point (note: this is not negotiated PoE, so you must make sure any device you will connect to port 4 on the router is compatible with pass through PoE before enabling the feature on the router).

We use this WR841  as an Access Point to connect wireless to a second WR841 with DD WRT  configured as a Client Bridge.   The PCs connect to the Client Bridge with Ethernet cable.  This set up allows PCs at the other end of the house to stream TV programs from the internet.   Earlier, we tried connecting the PCs with USB wireless adapters.  But the signal and data throughput from the USB adapters was  variable and unreliable.   This setup with two WR841s, in AP/Client Bridge configuration, is just about bullet proof.  We are very pleased with our purchase and highly recommend the WR841.
