Bluetooth Mini Keyboard Password

I have a 2019 Mac Mini that always had weak bluetooth reception for my mouse & keyboard. I bought is as "refurbished" and this is probably why someone returned it in the first place. Anyway, to get to the point, I ordered 4 solutions from Amazon and this Mini USB adaptor was the only device that fixed my problem. I'm using that same keyboard & mouse to type this review. Even though there wer no instructions on the device, I did plug it in, turn off the Bluetooth reception in the Mac Settings, used a wired mouse to turn Bluetooth back on again and it has worked perfectly for the past 3 weeks. My frustration has ended!!! Thanks StarTech!

Why did I wait to buy this keyboard? I have been using a standard numeric keyboard for years and constantly have to open the clamshell to enter my password when initializing the machine. Now I just put the machine to sleeep and Poof! touch the keypad and it starts up. AND...no more silly password entries 10 times a day on various sites. Just tap the fingerprint reader and Poof! I'm in like Flynn.

Read the fine print. This uses Bluetooth LE, and that requires an iPad3 or better. After wondering why it didn't work with either iPad2 here, I found that tidbit (which I had missed) in the fine print, hemmed, hawed, and opted to upgrade the iPad side of the system. It is a quality product, which on the one hand seems quite pricey for what is effectively a 2 button bluetooth keyboard, but on the other hand is much better made than whatever I might kludge up from a cheaper bluetooth keyboard with many more keys. The keys are lit, soft, and silent, and the device is considerably more affordable than some others in its niche - and with the keys on top, not over the edge, it works fine on carpets (some reviews indicate that is a weakness of some competing devices.) For hands-free page turning it really is ideal. Intended for foot operation, it is a bit larger than you'd expect from the pictures.

This keyboard works well with my Dell laptop. Easy Bluetooth connectivity.
