Boot Mac From Usb Flash Drive Windows 7

I use windows 8.1 quite often. On this mac, all drives (except the internal flash drive) are external. Windows runs great off Thunderbolt connected drives. You can have multiple window drives and select the one you want on boot by holding down the option key.

This little USB drive is used to house a portable Windows 11 Pro system. Can be used to boot up any system such as in hotel bussiness center or library. The metal case protects it from being in a pocket or bag every day plus helps with heat dissipation.

This is a great value-- 5TB will give me the room I need to back up files and archive. This is not the fastest drive but I wasn't looking for speed-- just cheap storage. I was also looking for reliability. This is a good brand. Compact, rugged, and highly visible. Compatible with MAC or Windows. Make sure you use a dedicated cable-- USB C to USB C or USB C to USB A-- no adapters. I tried a USB A adapter on a USB C cable and my IMAC did not see the drive-- not even in disk utility. A regular USB C to USB A cable did the trick. It did not mount directly-- I still had to go in to disk utility but there it was. It comes formatted in EX-FAT but I reformatted easily in to MAC Journal Extended. I was up and running in minutes. I also plugged it in to a Windows 10 laptop before the reformat, and it saw the drive right off. A great purchase and I'm happy with the drive. It's no speed demon, but that's not why I picked it up. Image shows HD and USB C to USB A cable (cable not included).

I migrated from a 960 PRO, itself no slouch even by today's standards. But there are a number of scenarios where this TLC drive absolutely destroys the older MLC drive in my workflow: Copying large amounts of files, small or large. The new controller on this SSD probably helps quite a bit here. I'm very happy with the purchase, this was a totally painless migration of an existing Windows 10 boot SSD to this new one. Samsung offers migration software to download and it works really well. You just have to be aware that if you migrate a boot drive and reboot: (A) make sure you're telling your BIOS to boot from the new drive if you keep the old one in and (B) if you keep the old drive in, Windows will take it Offline. You have to go into Disk Management, delete the partitions on the drive and then create new partitions, then you can select to take the drive back Online and you're in business.

As usual for B&H the drive was delivered promptly, packaging was fine, boot time to windows compared to the old conventional drive is amazing. General task such as AV scans are dramatically reduced in duration. I used this drive in a Levono 330 laptop that had good specs except for not having an SSD. I used Macrium free edition with no issues to load my Windows OS and files. Thanks

I installed this 6tb to replace the 1tb drive that came with the computer. The Windows OS was on an a solid state drive and that helped make this an easy install. It worked perfectly on the first boot up after a minor change to the boot up instructions. It is a 7200 6tb drive at a great price and I highly recommend it.

Update can be done without old CPU with USB flash drive only.

My mid-2010 Mac Pro is aging. That, and my ext. backup drives, only have FW800 and USB2. So, I bought this PCIe card and two USB-C external drives to backup all my stuff and futureproof me. Installing this card was an absolute breeze. (There's a great YouTube how-to.) Then, I backed up to one of my new USB-C drives and it was smooth and seamless. I'm very happy! Something I learned though, that is NOT the fault of the card, is that my Mac's ROM only recognizes a USB-C PCIe card after boot up, so you can't boot, say, a clone of your internal drive with it. That may be important to know for some people. Also, I thought I might see much faster transfer speeds, but the speeds were just a little faster than FW800. Could be because my new USB-C drives are only 540rpm, I'm not sure. So maybe don't expect dazzling speed improvements. I highly recommend this card.
