I use this adapter to connect an external hard drive to my Samsung Galaxy Tab S. Tablets only have mini usb ports. To use an external or any other device that uses a usb port, you'll need this adaptor. I recently purchased a laptop with2 USB-A port and one USB-C port. My external hard drive has a USB Micro-USB 3.2 port so this cable allows me to attach my drive to the laptop at the USB-C port Otherwise, I would need to use both USB-A ports and be SOL for attaching my mouse dongle. 5 |

I use this adapter to go from my USB 3 port to my ESATA external drive for backups. I purchased because my new laptop does not have an ESATA port, as did my prior laptop. I have not used often but it works just fine when connected to the USB 3 port. I would buy again. 5 |
