Brother 3170 Prints Too Dark

This printer replaced a Brother 3170 CDW which I was very pleased with. It does an excellent job and I have no regrets about the purchase. The only suggestion (thing I don't like) is the necessity of opening the back panel and flipping the tabs down in order to print envelopes....not a major inconvenience, but awkward due to the placing of the printer on my desk.

I don’t use my computer for work, just to print return labels and personal items so I can’t judge how long it will last in a business setting but at home it will last me a year!! I love the brother products!! My sewing machine is also brother and the quality is unmatched! The dark tone is so dark,very vibrant and clear.

It prints my shipping labels fast with clear dark lines and as never jammed.

Brother inkjet printer uses a lot of ink which is more expensive than the printer! But it prints very nicely.

This is a review for the Epson EcoTank M-3170 Monochrome All-in-One Supertank Printer that I received free of charge to do a beta test and review.And this printer that I tried and tested it gave me a good impression of what it can do it haves so many features to use that most that I loved it was the eco tank ink it’s much better that the inkjet because it saves up on me buying more ink and also loved the touchscreen feature too so I won’t have to click in buttons anymore.I would recommend it to anyone to buy it y’all won’t regret it and it would be a great use for work or personal use .

My old Epson Perfection 3170 scanner would not work with Lion. (I'm using version 10.7.3) I bit the bullet and got the V600. It is working great. I did follow the instructions to download the latest software and install that instead of the software on the disc. All functions seem to work - so far I've done color and B&W scans and color slides. It works from Epson Scan, from mounting thru the scan section in System Prefs and from programs such as Photoshop CS5 and Graphic Converter. It will not work from Photoshop Elements 10. I'm very happy with the speed of the scans. I do not understand some reviewers complaints regarding the slide holder - it worked fine for me and does not seem all that fragile. Only complaint - the extra software (notably the OCR software) is only for Windows. How about a little more Mac support!!

My 3170 was good at scans but took a little time from start to scan. The V600 doesn't "warm up" and goes directly to scan, saving a couple of seconds. Images are very accurate and captures sharper. Will scan legal size (11x14) documents. One of the best single page scanners I've used.

I tried some other options that fogged my prints before buying this. It's not quite as bright as I was hoping but it works as a safelight should. My dark room is approximately 5x8 and one does the trick.
