Budget Digital Camera For Home Movies

I love this camera! It’s a great budget camera for someone who wants a digital camera without having to break the bank (:

I'm using this to convert 8mm and Super 8mm home movies to a digital format. It's easy to use and does an excellent job! But remember GIGO: Garbage In, Garbage Out. If your movies have scratches, dirt, bad lighting or jitters in the original film, those will be faithfully reproduced in the digital copy. This unit DOES have some exposure control. Anything beyond that will need to be dealt with in video editing software. The only challenge I had was figuring out how to mount the reels to the unit. I forgot that the 8mm reels and spindles have a flat tab that needs to line up in order for the reels to easily slide onto the spindles. You do NOT need to force them! No mention of that in the instructions, which are minimal but adequate.

it is a High end Home camera which can be used to make great home movies ,documentaries and more. Great features for a very acceptable price ,it is my Favorite quality-Price Camcorder on the Market for today April 2011 I absolutely recommand it

use for home pictures and movies

Easy to use and set up for quick home movies. This camera works really well for our purposes.

The Panasonic HC-VX981 turned out to be a very pleasant surprise. Top 2 qualities are ease of use and unequaled image quality, seriously, watching my movies and pictures on a TV screen seems like I am at the movies! Then, as you dwell into what the camera offers you, your horizon keeps expanding, both using the different modes and formats it offers. Stabilization is great, and so is the little light for night scenes. Additionally, the movie shoots in complete darkness, using infra-red. The only feature I would have like to have is a wide-angle around 29mm or lower. The zoom is optical at 20x, (phenomenal), then a hybrid optical/digital at 25x, and a digital going to 1,500x. The camera is light at use, but I recommend a larger battery. It's a 4k camera, with a clean HDMI.

The product works perfectly. It is a battery which enables my camera to take photos and movies. I love my digital camera which is also a product of yours. I thought it had died when it did not work, your store told me immediately that the battery was dead. My camera is only a year old, The new battery brought it back to life.

The camera was used mostly for home movies. This battery pack did not run down on me during the Thanksgiving holiday. I never had to recharge it.

This is a must have if you have old home movies on vhs that need to be transferred to your home computer.

I bought the camera to take home movies and for use on youtube. Image quality is great and the on screen display is easy enough to use. So far I don't have any negative issues.
