Buffalo External Hard Drive Power Supply

After buying a new external hard drive, I bought this unit with an external power supply so the hard drive wasn't running off the PC's power supply. I don't have any 3.0 ports on my Toshiba Satellite but the hub and everything connected to it doesn't mind. A very convenient device. 5 |

That’s my external power supply for GPU. It is so quiet to let me think it is off. 5 |

It holds the laptop, power supply, mouse, microphone and external DVD drive without complaining. It looks good. 5 |

A hub like this, with an external power supply, is the solution to iffy external drive connections. Without the external power supply, other types of USB hubs do not provide enough power to keep external drives up and running--drives connected other, buss-powered hubs often turn off, and become unavailable in Windows. No such issue with this one. This is also impressively well made. The sleek metal enclosure, power switch and USB ports all inspire confidence that this will have a long life. I have the 7-port version of this, and it has worked flawlessly for almost 2 years of constant service. This hub installed on my Windows 10 PC instantly, and every drive I connect to it gets enough power to work well and stay connected and remain visible on my PC. 5 |

I added a second SATA hard drive to my computer. It did not come with cables. The computer power supply has a number of pigtails with the old white plastic connectors. This cable converts them to the connector used for power on the SATA drive. It works just fine. 5 |

Very small hard drive. No additional power supply needed. Using it as my mac time machine hard drive. Couldn't be easier to use. Only possible downside is that it has a proprietary cable that must be used with it. As long as you don't lose the cable, it's no problem. 5 |

Purchased my first Buffalo as a Raid 1 storage drive for my photography around 2012. Had good luck with THAT one, so I decided on getting a 6 TB version of the same external drive set up on Raid1, as my older drive was a 4TB raid1 device giving me a net of 2TB of storage, and it was now FULL! So I've activated this new 6TB drive also on Raid 1, which gives me 3TB of new redundant and safe storage capability. I trust the reliability of these external drives!! 5 |

I am a professional photographer and use The Buffalo Drive Array to store my photographs. In the past, I was concerned about the possible complexity of using an external Raid system, and wouldn't purchase one. Well, to my surprise, it is just as easy to use as a single external drive. An icon shows up on my desktop, I double click it to open it up, and drag in my folders. Nice and easy, and I'm comfortable that my files are backed up on 2 drives. Oh, and the auto shut-off very nice. 5 |
