Build A Linux Wireless Router

I needed this to add 5GHz capability to an old laptop that I was using as a router. The big antenna on this adapter makes it 2-3 times faster and much more stable than my old means of connecting. For Linux, you need to get the driver package from the website, don't bother with the included disk. I used the latest version, I simply ran the install script in a terminal window, and it was up and running, that easy. The adapter unplugs from the base and can be plugged directly into a usb port if necessary, the antenna is hinged. The base is weighted and lets you move the adapter around for the best reception. Really can't come up with any negatives. It is hard to find a 5GHz USB Wifi adapter for Linux, and this one works very well. I'm sure the Windows and Mac support is as good. 5 |

My first router was the Linksys WRT54GL, a router that will forever live in infamy. It lasted me years and was only replaced due to not being able to keep up with faster Internet speeds now available. I decided to build my own router, running Linux to handle the higher speeds. This went well for a time, but was annoying that it had only 2 network jacks, and it was really overkill for power. I began a search for a lower powered PC, but options were slim. I had an Ubiquiti Access Point and was looking at devices for POE, and came across this. It had all the functionality I was looking for, had more ports, POE and was much lower powered than the Linux PC I had been running. This device has so many features, far beyond any of your typical home router. Combine this with one of there APs and you have an amazing home setup. Although not as easy to setup and configure as your typical home router, this is far superior and has a wizard that helps get it configured based on what you want it to do. If you want a router with all the bells and whistles and not your basic all in one wireless router, then this is likely the one for you. 5 |

I bought this router and paired it to my 2 ubiquiti wireless ap's. Router works great! Highly recommend. Read all the great reviews about it. They aren't lying. 5 |

Great build, seriously better than the one that came in the box with my wireless. 5 |

After replacing my Wireless router with the Amplifi, I was able to resolve dead spots and double my available wireless bandwidth. Wifi 6 isn't supported, but there are not many devices that need wifi 6 in my environment. The setup was seamless and I love the App for monitoring the system. 5 |

I used this to build a linux firewall server. The old server that I had was destroyed by a lightning strike. So far, the new system is doing the job. 5 |

Just finished building a new Linux workstation, and this case is a real spectacle! The build is all solid state, and the only decent GPU I could find was a mini RTX 2060, so this is really a big box of air. Still, there's plenty of room for future projects and expansions. Extremely well-constructed, this case really shows off your components in a way that few others do. I kept the RBG to a minimum--just enough so lend a nice, subtle glow in low light. Tool-less access is ultra simple--very nice when you're finishing up a build! Had a little trouble figuring out how to control the front RGB strip, but eventually realized it's easy: just land on the static rainbow display, then press and hold the upper button. This is my third all-aluminum Lian Li, and I LOVE it! 5 |
