Building A Full Arcade Machine
Matthew | 2024-06-15 09:54:12 |
I have an arcade machine with over 30,000 games on it. It tears up normal hard drives, makes them run super hot and slow. I have had several hard drives go up on me because it is trying to access to much date. This SSD was expensive but worth every penny. The games run 10 times faster and this hard drive never heats up. If you have a MAME arcade machine this is the answer. 5 |

This thing is simply the best looking case I have seen. After building my machine I just had to sit and stare at it for a while. My only concern is possible dust issues, but its to soon to tell right now. 5 |

Building a new machine after 15(!) years. If you are doing this for the first time a good tip is to try one stick of RAM. If it works, then try the other just in case it fails. In my case I got the bad stick on the first try. The second stick worked no problem. B&H returns/RMA process was not a problem, got a replacement set and I am loving it. Good timing and speed for the AMD Ryzen cpu/chipset. Set the UEFI/BIOS to use the XMP profile and away you go... 5 |

I was building a 3D rendering machine with the goal to have dual RTX 4080s or 4090s. I didn't realize how large GPUs have gotten and quickly found out that none of these GPUS would fit in a normal case or motherboard. After some deep diving, I discovered a couple of pros who build machines with the MSI GeForce RTX 4090 SUPRIM LIQUID X Graphics Card. Most RTXs take 3 slots while the MSI is just a standard 2 slot. I ordered one to check fitting and quickly ordered a second. Killer GPUs. I'd reccomend to anyone looking for a 4090 that doesn't want a massive card. GPUs run super cool and were easy to install. 5 |

I'd previously been using the Rode NT1 as my primary mic, and I loved it. Booked and recorded lots of work on it. However, I have a midrange male voice with a solid amount of nasal resonance and found the NT1 too sharp for my voice at times and missing some of the balancing rich low end frequencies in my voice. The TLM 102 sounds just right. Great full low end, with smooth midrange for my voice. I hardly use an EQ it fits my voice so well. It's sensitivity is also great for my situation. I'm in a Brooklyn apt building. Admittedly I invested about $500 sound proofing and treatment (Audimute isole, and door seals), so my closet boasts a good noise floor (on average -55db to -60db), and the TLM 102 performs really well here. If I'm being really picky about my noise floor, it picks up a fair amount of low frequencies (fridge, elevator, passing trucks, heavy footsteps above me) that I won't be able to eliminate without a full on vocal booth. None of this can't be fixed with modest EQ or by recording at off-peak traffic hours in my building. 5 |

I use a flashlight daily at my full time job. Whether it being a dark building or a container this flashlight doesn't disappoint. It's lightweight and very compact. The length is about the size of a pen and thickness is like holding a sharpie. 100% recommend. 5 |
