Prior to getting a Nikon Z6, I used the Nikon AF-S 18-35 G on my Nikon D750. I kept that lens to use on my Z6 as I need an ultra wide lens for group photos of political events. Now that I have the Z 14-30, the old AF-S lens will be sold or traded. The new Z 14-30 used on the Z6 provides a more useful wide angle capture is sharper; the color rendition of the files is noticeably better in my experience; in my use, I have found the edges to be sharp. The Z lens is just a tad heavier by about 3 oz so that is not an issue for me. With the recent Nikon sale price of the Z 14-30, the lens is a real bargain in my view. I highly recommend it.

The 14-30 f4 is noticeably smaller and lighter than many other full frame ultra wide zooms and it doesnt sacrifice image quality to get there.  I previously used a 16-35 lens because it had filter threads but there were times when I wanted to go a little bit wider and the Nikon 14-30 f4 gives me the best of both worlds.  If youre using this lens at 14mm and you want the extreme corners sharp then you might want to stop down one or two stops but that isnt necessary at most other focal lengths.  In general this lens is sharp from edge to edge, handles flare exceptionally well and just has a really great balance of overall image quality.   The build quality is very good too and is probably better than it appears when looking at pictures of the lens.  There are a number of really good ultra wide zooms introduced in the last few years and I believe this lens plays in the same neighborhood while having the benefit of being smaller, lighter, great focal range and has filter threads.   Great lens!

I bought the Z7 and this lens to save weight. I'm a big fan of ultra-wide, and have lugged my D100, D700 and then D750 all over the world with the 14-24 f/2.8 since 2008. But, wow, is that arrangement HEAVY. This 14-30 f/4 (with a Z7) is so much lighter, has a better narrow end (to 30, vs. only 24) and even seems a bit better at the edges in my side-by-side comparisons. I only used the 2.8 end of the aperture range for low light; not creative depth-of-field. And the Z7 has more than an extra stop of sensitivity than my D750, so this 14-30 f/4 is a perfectly acceptable tradeoff. If you enjoy the 14-24 f/2.8 on an F-mount, you will like this on the Z-series cameras. (Unless you really, really need that extra wide f/2.8, for which you'll have to wait maybe another year and it will weigh another pound. And those pounds add up, especially when you travel to weird places that have very stringent luggage weight restrictions.)

I was skeptic if I need a wide angle lens. I tried 14-30 and 14-24. But I have returned them because I didn't like a wide angle POV. But I still wanted some lenses to make wide angle videos of streets especially at night when I just walk with the gimbal. I noticed that I used 20mm distance only on both 14-30 and 14-24. So, I decided what if I will try 20mm prime lens. And I liked their super rich colors and contrast images, and of course 1.8 aperture. So, I have decided to keep it in my collection as the only wide lens I need. The main concern for me with 20mm is to make pictures of people very carefully. Because hands and legs are looking much wider than the eye can see. But the nature and cars look great on 20mm. Also, I can recommend B&H Used Like New items. They definitely like new :) Attaching here few pics taken on my Nikon Zf on these lens on F/1.8 aperture.

I like how it can be regenerated using a microwave oven.

Nice addition for my Z 24-70, so can use on it and the z 14-30.

Hahnemuhle paper provides such gorgeous tones, especially the deep blacks. I only wish they also made this is 11 x 14 inches.

The light is perfect for travel. It measures 14 inches from the top all the way to the bottom of the yoke. Very bright and usable as a key light. I use an Angler soft box with 8"x8" opening. The light must be mounted sideways in order for this to work. Highly recommend for anyone who needs a small light with great punch.

This tripod is the perfect size for travel, as it folds down to 14 inches, including the ball head. This makes it easy to fit into carry-on luggage or a small backpack. There are other tripods this size, but none that are as well made and as sturdy as this tripod.
