I like how it can be regenerated using a microwave oven.

It is very solidly built and wide enough to get the shot you've always wanted.

I purchased this lens along with the X1D body, so it is the lens I was using as I got to know and love the X1D. The purchase was from a Canadian store so I'm not listed as a verified purchaser. With the exchange rate it simply wasn't worth it despite B&H's excellent pricing, but I digress. This lens is absolutely stunning. Crystal sharp and amazing performance in every regard. I use it for landscape and astro, and especially for medium wide angle shots of storm fronts and lightning, which it simply eats up. Other XCD lenses, with the exception of the stunning 21, do not seem to be in the same class as this incredible piece of glass, both in terms of image quality and general quality of build and performance. I also own the 65 and 90. Despite the wide field of view the images stitch extremely well in PTGui so it is a great option for multirow panos. If I had to choose only one XCD lens it would be a tough call between the 21 and the 30, but I'd select the 30.

For most people it's probably 1 job in 30 or 40 that you need a wide gear for a lens with a traveling element, but when one comes up, it's inevitably thrown at you without notice. I recently bought a single channel arri WFF w/ a cforce mini RF, so I immediately ordered this gear to keep in the case...just in case.

Love it wide open! Reminds me film MF output I was shooting 30 years ago!

Prior to getting a Nikon Z6, I used the Nikon AF-S 18-35 G on my Nikon D750. I kept that lens to use on my Z6 as I need an ultra wide lens for group photos of political events. Now that I have the Z 14-30, the old AF-S lens will be sold or traded. The new Z 14-30 used on the Z6 provides a more useful wide angle capture is sharper; the color rendition of the files is noticeably better in my experience; in my use, I have found the edges to be sharp. The Z lens is just a tad heavier by about 3 oz so that is not an issue for me. With the recent Nikon sale price of the Z 14-30, the lens is a real bargain in my view. I highly recommend it.

I can honestly say I prefer this lens to the Nikon 14-24. The sharpness is honestly astonishing, and I love having the ability to zoom to 30 mm. I find myself less and less shooting at 15 mm so the small degree in wide angle is not so important. However, I find myself routinely shooting between 24 and 30 mm. So the trade off is more than justified. While you can't use screw on filters, I've turned to the NiSi filter system available for the Tamron 15-30 and it works perfectly well, though it is a bit cumbersome and awkward. Though you'd be forced to use a complicated filter system with any ultra-wide. I have found that this lens can catch some sun flares, but mostly only when shooting directly towards the sun on a bright day. I don't think there's a lens in existence that wouldn't catch some flares under those conditions.

Having shot interiors for years, this is the best wide angle zoom I have used. One of the main reasons I purchased the Z6 was to get this lens. I have been using the 15-30 F2.8 Tamron and that is an excellent lens. Although the 14-30 is smaller, lighter and can use screw on filters, it's the image quality that I am impressed with. I read several reviews on this lens before purchase. Some of those reviews claimed little distortion from this lens. The examples shown in those reviews were of subjects at a distance. This is very different from shooting interiors where some of the subject may be close to the lens like a door frame. You will see significant distortion on the outside of the frame. This is easy to correct in software and common with lens this wide. The sharpness and clarity are outstanding. Very happy with this lens.

I have only had 1 opportunity to use this lens it was for a large family reunion (30 ppl). The lens was impressively wide! I was unsure how I was going to be able to photograph 30 people in a group but this lens made my job easy! I am excited to use this lens again. I was very hesitant on buying this EF-S lens because in the future I plan to upgrade my camera. But as of now I am VERY happy with my purchase.

A very good case. It only took me 30 minutes to set up and I had 2 DSLR with lens attached , a wide angle lens and a flash secured in the case. Would definitely recommend this case.
